Help me compile a list of Vin# for the 81 SRX & Vmax 540's !

Many would like to know how many 81 SRX'S and Vmax540's there were. I have started a list and if I can get a few more, we will get Tyler to make this a new topic in the Articles on http://www.vintagevmax.com/ ! With everyones help, maybe we can at least get a rough idea how many and in which year they were produced ? Please, make sure you know the correct year ! As a side tid bit I also, start a list of the numbers found on your ignition key if you would like to add these ? You can post them or send me a Private mail ! Thanks for any help ! Chuck Schettler

Thanks, a 1982.....that is so cool ! So, the 82's started with 010 for the first 3 digits in the vin. number ? all the Vmax's started with 3 Zero's 000XXXX
 
ok guys i have a couple for you my 86 vamx is 000443 and it has the original motor and i have some bad news the 81 motor i have is 001140 but i know that the frame is no longer arrounjd cus when my dad was given the motor the guy had just hauled the rest of the sled a way
o and also iam in canada and if any body out there in canada bc has a vamx or srx they dont want i may be interested

thats to bad your so far a way and ya the story of tyhe motor is if my dad would have went a day earlyer hed would have got the holl sled but the guy packed the rest of it to thwe dum i dont know why he would do such a thing
 
81 Srx

Just picked up an 81 SRX motor. vin # rt437-000990. This motor must have some very very low milage as the pistons and cylinder walls look like new. The cases are super clean. It doesn't look like it has never been opened up either. Motor originated in Wyoming I believe. Have no idea where the chassis may be.

Chuck,

The 82's in Europe have the VIN 8R9-010154 for example. In the US the VIN's start: 8R9-001054 as an example. I also own the 82 Engine: RT499-000101 which messes the number thing up even more. I have been told that the numbers/VIN's for the US reflect the Pre-Production early production sleds before the actual consumer released sleds. Hence the story of only 100 of the 82's ever coming to the US. In Europe, some sleds were actually sold to customers who preordered them before the program was ended hence the production numbers with the difference VIN sequence.
 
81 Srx

Just picked up 2 more complete 81 SRX's 8M6-000887 it has 582miles the other is 8M6-000496 it has 1652 miles.

40% of these sleds run. The rest of these are parts sleds and the engines are disassembled, so getting the engine #s will take time. Brad

A question. If I was looking at an 81 for all matching #'s. Then the matching chassis # to a motor # (using your motor # rt437-000990 as an example),would be 8M6-000990?
