I am just curious but I thought I rememberd my m.s.o for my 1979 srx440 said it was 72hp?

I remember reading something from dyno tech about the 81 srx was around 88hp stock, youd have to research the old dynotech blogs. I also think i have a old snowmobile magazine from the era of the 81 srx saying high eightys for hp, I will have to look.

I could be wrong, what were they Tony?? :winterrul

DON 78 AND 79 SRX WERE 80 hp. 1980 SRX WAS 75. GUESS BUTTER FLY CARBS AND OIL INJECTION KNOCKED THEM DOWN SOME. 81 SRX WAS 88 hp AT 9250. THE 82 SRX 500 WAS 92. 83 VMAX 540 WAS 85, PUT YAMAHA HAD PORTING UPDATE FOR THEM THAT ADDED CLOSE TO 10 MORE HORSE. 3:16 (yammie tony)

The 80 srx had a heavier and long crank also. More turning weight, less power. Hey Tony are you going to Bonnevile this weekend. Don Schmitt stopping by for parts for his oval sled this morning. I'll be up there. This time I dress for the cold. Dean-o

The PTO stub for the '80 is slightly longer for the oil pump gear. The rest of the crank is the same. No diff from that HP wise. Tony, did you see the '79-'80 NOS windshield on ebay?

DEAN, MARK AND I TALKED ABOUT GOING BUT I HAVE A PARTY SATURDAY NIGHT AND HAVE TO BE BACK. ITS JUST TOO FARR FOR TIME LIMITS. WE WILL BE AT THE VARYSBURG SHOW ON SUNDAY. TOMORROW I,LL STAY CLOSE AND DO SOME TEST & TUNE ON MY 2000 SRX. ARE YOU GONNA MAKE THE WHITEOUT ? 3:16 (yammie tony)
DYNO, I DID NOT SEE THAT. VERY VERY HARD TO FIND. 3:16 (yammie tony)

OH THERE,S NO DOUBT YOU CAN MAKE BIG HP ON A LITE WEIGHT CRANK. DEAN ALOT OF THESE GUYS TODAY TURBO CHARGE THEIR CRANK SHAFT. I GUESS THATS WHAT THEY CALL IT. CRANKSHAFTS ARE DRILLED AND LIGHT,EN. HP GETS UP AROUND 300. A VERY FARR CRY FROM WHAT THE 1980 SRX WAS CABABLE OF. 3:16 (yammie tony)

What is the difference of center labyrint seal (crank)? i have seen 2-3 different variations.
Where to get cheapest bearings for crank?

Lighter cranks don't make more power? News to me! Dean-o
Yep. You could never measure a difference in peak HP or rev rate between the '79 crank and the '80 crank without the gear.

If the 1976 SRX440 put out close to 98 HP at close to 10,000 RPM.
And you said that the 1978 SSR440 was faster,
(I'm not doubting you,)
What kind of HP did the 1978 SSR440 put out?

The '76 SRX 440 made mid 80's at 9,000-9,100 RPM. I think the SSR was around 108 HP.

wow, incredible. so the ssr was as fast if not faster than the 77 srx?

DEAN, LINE THEM UP AND RACE THEM. lol. PLEASE POST YOUR RESULTS. THE 76 SRX 440 WAS 88 HP AT 9500. ( for the 10 time now throw a 76 exhaust on a 78-79 srx and let me know the seat of your pants defference) THE 78 YAMAHA SSR WAS 102-105 TOPS. 77 SRX WAS 98. THE 77 SKIDOO BLIZZARD WAS 108-110. NOT THE SSR. 3:16 (yammie tony)

are the 78-80 cylinders the same? also what model ski-doo had the 108 hp? that was also the same motor used in the 77 ultrasonic corect? what model was the 77 ski-doo?

ANSWER IS YES ON CYLINDERS AND 77 BLIZZARD IS MODEL. 77 MOTO SKI WAS A SONIC. NOT A ULTRA SONIC WHICH WAS MOTO- SKI VERSION OF THE BLIZZARD 9500 PLUS. (yammie tony)
