I've cracked my second primary sliding sheeve on my 99 sx 700. The first one went 5000 miles. Bought a used one on ebay only got a few hundred out of it. It wasn't in the best shape. I'm at a crossroads on what to do. Should I
a) by a complete new primary (expensive)
b) by a new sheeve (rest of clutch looks ok)
c) by another used one (a buddy has one off of a 94 600,1700 miles. Will it fit?
d) I have a p85 and a p90 comet sitting in the shed. I've heard these can be made to fit. I know a reputable shop that can machine tapers. Is this going to be a nightmare to tune?
I appreciate any help.

For my 600 twin, I got a P85 off of a 02 ProX 800(wide rollers, wide bushings) and a set of thundershift weights. Took about an hour and 4 tries to get it dialed in well. My Yamaha clutch needed new bushings in the weights and rollers as well as a new spring and it had to be reclabrated anyway because I long tracked it. Cost about half of what i would have spent, easier to make changes(bolts vs rivets), bushings have lasted longer already than the 400 Km on the last set of Yam. rollers and i didn' have to deal with the local Yam stealer.

Same taper, no machining. I could have used the Yam bolt but bought the Pol washer/bushing and a 1/2 NF grade 8 bolt. Had to cut to the right length as all they had were a bit long. Yam bolt has a shoulder that did not work with the Pol washer. Clutch seems to run a bit hotter than Yam but about the same temp as a friends 700 RMK.

I used a stock belt. Was going to shim the bolt to narrow it to 1 3/8", but engagement is very smooth so left it the way it was
