Does anyone care that Yamaha is a joke on every other message board ?
Just curious - I mean why should anyone care about the fact that the RX1 competes against 600s and the Viper S cranks out the same HP as other mfgs. 600s. Not to mention the huge lineup - and the continued presence of their pro-action suspension and trailing arms.
Does anyone on this board recognize that Yamaha is 2 steps away from bailing on the snowmobile market.
If you talk to any dealer in Ontario, they are crying the blues. The all wanted something light and fast that could compete with the other mfgs. 800s. Oh I'm sorry - I forgot about the RX-Tank.

Maybe you'd be better off posting this on one of those other message boards?

Ouch!-the truth hurts sometimes doesn't it???
It will take alot more than just a new rear suspension!!
Yamaha needs the guy who brought us the R1 and R6 street bikes to take over the snowmobile dept. - then there would be changes.

What is with all the newbie jerks on TY?
The truth that Tyers care about, is that Yamaha builds a great product. 98% of Yamaha buyers either like how they come set up, or can at least set them up themselves. If you can't seem to, it's your problem!
I've got no problems with my Proaction skid, tons of miles on it, and it's done great the whole time. If you bought a Viper and wanted a soft ride...nobody can help ya.

Check your hyfax ...
Just a thought ...
Correct me if I am wrong, but last time I checked you weren't the one buying our sleds.
WE all spend our own money on what ever sled we feel is best for us. So why are you so concerned with yamaha? If you don't like them, don't buy them ... seems pretty simple to me?? I am sure some one out there feels that your brand of choice is a POS.
Those of us on yamaha are on them for a reason ... we all have had great results from them. And yes I have tried otehr brands.
Next time you are out on the trail look around and see how many yamaha sleds you see. Here in Michigan I have seen more in the last two years than I have in my 14 years of sledding. Must be doing something right??

When i am 50 miles from home or 25 miles in the backcountry when I am mountain riding my biggest priority is getting home. I have made it home 100% of the time since my first 97 700 MM!

Re: Yamaha sleds for old people
I'm on a couple of other message boards and I must have missed the fact the Yamaha is a joke on them.....our could it be that you are clueless or just a shit disturber?
Taking into consideration that 4-strokes build approx 1/2 the HP per CC and weigh double what a 2-stroke does the RX1's performance level is excellent. Do you even know the difference between a 4-stroke and a 2-stroke?
No I didn't know that. Why don't you enlighten us on what Yamaha has planned.....do you attend the corporate meetings?
I must have missed the tears at my dealer. As far as the "RX-Tank" goes, I seem to recall that it meets the upcoming emissions requirements!

Hi my name is Bill, I'm old (44) and I ride a Yamaha! There I said it and now I feel much better now! Actually it's not being old that makes me ride Yamaha's it's being WISER. Smart enough not to buy some piece of shit that spends more time at the dealer for recalls than on the snow!
Trailing arms? Dosn't every Polaris made still have them, including their race sleds.
Huge line up? Yeah thats just what every dealer wants, is bunch of left over models that look so much alike that you have to look at the spec sheet to see any difference.

Why are you guys leting a PUNK taunt you ? Heck I ride a Yamaha and am over 40, so what ! I will be in the group that is eating dinner and having a cold one when that PUNK is trying to tow his junk home and wondering if the gas station will be open if they get that far ! So dont get your thong all bunched up over a PUNK, OK VMJ ?

How did you know I wear a thong? That's it, I'm closing the blinds when I do my Flashdance impersonation!
Really, these guys don't upset me. I'd rather they realize what TY is all about and contribute something. Somebody's got to let them know this is a non bash site is all! The worst we can do is bash back too...

Yamaha's for old people? 1 of my buds 63 years rides Ski Doo 800 Summit, another 58 Artic Cat 700 ZR, yes I'm 52 RX1 Mtn. Guess what!! Mine has NEVER been towed yet, NEVER came close to letting me down. Come to think of it nether has my other buds. Know 1 of the reasons? Maintenace and we don't ride 90MPH all the time. We like to see the senery and the trails and the tow vehicles. I'm not saying we 40MPH either. We do know when to ride hard and when to slow down, and we NEVER, EVER drink and ride and we won't ride with anyone that does. Who cares that Yamaha does makes the best sled, as long as everyone has good rides. Lets quit the bashing, and help us all have better rides.
vmaxjohn, thong underware? I've got to try it.

I also agree on the drinking and riding thing--I can remember when I first got to go on "Snowmobile trips" with my dad when I was 9 or 10. Every
10-15 miles was a 'beer-stop' as they called it. We always got home OK
but sometimes I wondered-AND worried about it-pretty scary. Now that I am 30-we ALWAYS wait till' we get back to homebase to drink(we have for
many years actually-like ten.)MUCH SAFER! Back to the original topic-
Yamaha does try to sell to older people-not OLD people. 45+ years of age,
good job-big house>>etc.....It's the market they are going after! Snowcross attracts the young crowd(and older too!) and all the popularity.
Thus--most sales through image.I worked at a yamaha only dealership for five years-from 94' to 99' and I've never seen yamaha so narrow-minded with thier sleds?? I would not buy a new yamaha right now-
thats just me.I love the LOOKS of the new vipers, but they're not NEW.
My dads' 97 sx700-long travel is a better sled-same susp.-frame?? Just as
fast.I'm not bashing-just stating my opinion-and some facts.-MATT

I have had just about every make of snowmobile, and never have I been as satisfied as I am with my Yamaha, but I agree when Yamaha stopped production of the SRX, they lost some buyers, those who were looking for a racing machine from Yamaha, but to that I say this, Yamaha's are dependable, and with some slight mods can keep up and beat a lot of other machines out there. As far as the RX 1, you can't compare that to any other machine out there, this thing is revolutionary, it may not be as fast as some hoped, but it is taking snowmobiling into the next generation, low emmisions, better fuel and oil consumption. As far as thinking Yamahas are for older people, thats just not true, around here age has nothing to do with the machine we ride, I think the machine a person rides is usaully becasue of good luck or perhaps bad luck of a previous machine. Anyways, just my $.02
