I am an auto mechanic i work on all makes of vehicle and the main reason I bought a yamaha is because Japanese motors are untouchable when it comes to reliability and quality. They are bullet proof. when ever a car comes in for a check over and it has one of the "big three" emblems on the front, I get out my BIG note pad. When a nissan, toyota, honda comes in it usually leaves within hours. that has to tell you something. JAPS KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING. built to last. I will never buy a north american piece of junk as long as I live. And I advise you to do the same.
my two cents.
anyone agree??

Id be willing to bet some money, that this guy got his ass whipped by a yamaha, and now he's all pissed off! I wanna know what he rides, a mustard bucket(ski doo) or maybe a Poor Old Loser Ain't Riding In Style(polaris).. Look in the local papers, or classifieds how many old yamaha's do you see for sale? TONS! how often do you see a Polaris or a doo that is over 20 years old still running? rarely. It dosen't take a rocket scientist to figure who makes well built sleds. The other manufactures may have better suspension and what not, but I would give that up any day for yamaha's reliability, I've never once had my sled leave me stranded. And he says that the Rx-1 is running with the 800 class, then why is it that I saw a stock RX-1 smoke everything that came up against it? It blew a 1000cc thundercat away, thats not an 800.... One more thing before I go, where is this guy? Why hasn't he replied to anyones question?

Re: You want to fight about it..
Just curious, so you are saying that Yamaha is getting out of the sled business? I didn't quite get the total gist of the above statement.
bleueje17 said:The only truth to the entire statement (attn: Canuck)Is Yamaha is 2or so steps away from focusing all efforts on other portions of the business. The snowmobile portion is the smallest % of Yamahas business, and they do not like to cut corners to be lower priced. A businees decision they will make, but you influence will have no effect (even if you set up a line of people with yamaha suck signs)

Just had to throw my 2 cents in on the mix...I've towed several of my buddies out of the woods and they weren't riding Yamaha's! I won't even mention the other brands....

Here is a yami that was built when you young fellers were still pissin in your pants. Maybe some still are! [/img]
Take note of the front suspension! 1978 vintage yami musclesled.
Yami builds what the market dictates.

Im not one for classic sleds... but that thing is just plain wicked. Staying with the topic though. I bought my SX700 after 16 yrs. without a sled mostly because of a 1980 exciter 440 i had. That sled was much better built that the competition of the day and believe that continues today.

Can you imagine how pathetic your own life would have to be to resort to making fun of X brand of machines to complete strangers on the internet.
I mean really, do you have nothing better to do? Do you have no girl, no friends, no life, that this is your greatest source of entertainment? Probably. If so, go ahead, try to get a rise out of people who are here to learn something. You probably need this to keep from jumping off a bridge or something!

I'm an old SOB 47 myself new to this site but a 3 year member of the RX1.info forum next door This clown that started this thread was nothing but a S*** stirrer ignore him. I personally came from (nasty word) polaris 3 years ago and have never been happier with a sled I have an 03 RX1 with 3300 trouble free miles and just picked up an 05 RX1 a few weeks ago for the wife (yeah right ) There is not a smoother , or quieter sled out there and as for performance it kicks my buddy's butts and thats all i'm out to do LOL hit 128 on the speedo once and in the 110 - 120 range many times. This may be a heavy pig but it's the sled for me. You want to try an awesome trail sled check out the new vector it's gonna raise a lot of eyebrows in the coming season.

My brother and I grew up riding enticer 300 twins one '78 and one '79. We still ride yamaha (97 sx7 and xtc6) because every year we uncover those old sleds and they fire right up. We still own them and now our kids ride them. Had 'em out on the grass last weekend since fall is in the air. If you follow used sled listings, notice how many sleds from other brands are being sold with rebuilt motors at 2000 miles vs how many yamahas have 12000 miles. I love to go to Tug Hill and dog the skipoo revs and the artic crap ZRs all day with my slow sled and lousy suspension. BTW if you ever get to Potter County PA when you get close to Cross Forks for lunch be sure to look for the Arctic Cat emergency phone on the trail! It's a good laugh.

The input of this site is the greatest thing about visiting here!
I am so sick of the other sites when you view there & see stupid posts trash talking Yamaha's! The other owners just don't get it! When was the last time you passed a broken down sled on the trail & it was a Yamaha? Hasn't happened for me! Most of the sleds I pass on the trail that are break-downs are polaris! Arctic Cat is a close 2nd! I ride with 3 guys that ride Cat & they have been lucky so far-only 1 break-down-01 ZR800-stator! I havn't had to be towed with any of my Yamaha's yet! Not too worried about it happening in the future either!

All I got to say is if and that's a big if and when this guy can crack the 20,000 mile barrier
(like I have on my 1992 Vmax-4), then he can start talking.

I love YAMAHA'S & this SITE! We all know who is the best! Isn't it funny how this guys tries to cause problems and he ends up with 6 pages of how Yamaha rocks! They are undoubtedly the best brand out there. From their performance to their dependability, it just does not get any better then Yamaha. We use to have two 89 Ovations and we rode them until 2003 and at that point we were ready for some new suspension and power from Yamaha. Now we have a 98 VMAX XT600, 2000 Venture XL500, and a 2002 SXViper! What amazing machines Yamaha makes! If you can't convince others to join us, just smile and wave as you pass them buy! YAMAHA FOREVER!

whatever!
Guess HP is everything. NOT! Depends on the needs. Because the end of the trail comes eventually...so that mean BREAKS are just as important...guess what IM NOT OLD BUT I NEED TO BE ABLE TO STOP. and yamaha has the best breaks on the market in my mind.
Boy, should I keep going?
My buddy gives me a hard time because ive broke 3 bulkheads on my yamaha. And know what I tell him. "DONT BE A AND LET ME SEE YOU JUMP THAT!" and guess what he says, I dont want to break my ArcticCAT. And even tho ive replaced my bulkhead on my 500 several times ...we wrench on his CAT MORE...two melt downs and suspesion problems. Always adjusting his rear suspension.. Ive rebuild my front shocks and never touched my rear other then removing it and doing a complete grease job every summer. He just moved to the 800 Cat and my 600 tripple walks it and that really him off. O ya my 600 is STOCK.
So I guess what im saying...if it aint BLUE im not riding it. I will die on used YAMAHA's before I will buy a NEW CAT.
