NO, NOT AT ALL. I WOULD HOPE TO SEE THAT EASY. WHAT I WAS ASKING IF YA THINK THE PORTING HELPED YA IN A DRAG RACE. THATS THE QUESTION. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Okay, kind of read it wrong. Well, is still have my 98 and it would normally pull a 2001 MXZ 700 on the top end. They would pull of the line very close up to about 60mph. I'm going to take my 2000 out and run it against the 98 just to see the difference. I'll let you know what I find out.

I raced my stock 2000 srx against my ported 2001 with heel clickers and it was not even close the ported jumped right out in front and was just playing with the stock srx. Then i would let off and let the stock srx catch up i would hammer it again and the ski's would lift and jump out 3 to 4 sled lengths right away even at about 70mph

I BELIVE THAT BENDER, BUT HOW YA THING STOCK 01 OR 00 SET-UP RIGHT WOULD DO AGAINST A PORTED 98. I HAVE BEAT,IN A 780 98 WITH 2000 ON THE GRASS PRETTY EASY. NOW GRANTED I THINK THAT 98 OFF BY A MILE, BUT STILL. I AM ADDING PORTED CYLS AS I TYPE THIS AND MY TARGET THE REAL FAST F-7,s. 3:16 (yammie tony)
note : you still have your 99 srx, if you do, give me numbers on cyls.

no way will a stock 2000-02 run with a ported 98-99, not unless the guy who got the port job on the 98-99 left his clutching bone stock, you add 15 hp, and dial in the clutching youll be reading the snowflap by quite a distance.

Actually I prefer the 98-99 engines over the 2000-02, they make better power with the lower transfer ports, do the porting and they scream.

INTRESTING DON, HOW ABOUT THE F-7,s SNO-FLAP. I HAVE SEEN SLOW ONES, FAIR ONES AND SCREAMERS. I HAVE BEATIN ALL BUT THE SCREAMERS WITH A STOCK 2000 SRX WITH OUR GREAT H/C SET-UP. THE PORT JOB NARROW THE GAP 3:16 (yammie tony)

you should beat them with porting and h/c's, all depends on who's porting it is and how good it is, but if you add 15hp to a srx and good clutching, wont be many trail sleds run with them.

DON WILL EVEN TELL YA 150-155 IS GREAT HORSEPOWER FOR A STILL LAKE/TRAIL RACE PORT JOB. HERE IS A QUESTION FOR YOU GUYS, YOU HAVE YA BEAT WITH THIS PORTING. 3:16 (yammie tony)
I went from 4 1/2 to 5 sleds behind my buddies 06 Apex GT ( dropped one tooth in the chaincase but other wise stock) to his back bumper with Dons trail porting on my 02 SRX (clutch kit also) That for me was money WELL spent

NOW I AM WORRIED. I HAVE BEATIN, APPEX GTs WITH MY 100 % STOCK 2002 SRX ON OUR 1/ 2 MILE AIR STRIP ON HARD PACK. THIS SLED IS UNSTUDDED, NO DCS ISSUES, AND HAS A CLUTCH KIT I BUILT MYSELF FROM PARTS OUT OF MY VMAX 4. I DID RACE ONE LAST YEAR THAT WAS VERY FAST AND PROBLEY BEAT ME BY A SLED AND 1/2. BUT I RACED HIM IN DEEP SNOW, NOT THE SRX STRONG POINT. 3:16 (yammie tony)

then you better stick with your 100% stock sled and 8bu clutch weights, it doesnt get any faster then that.....LOL

HEY DON, I KNOW YOUR TOP MAN ON CAMPUS HERE, BUT DON,T DOUBT WHAT I DO FOR A SECOND. I HAVE RACED AND '' WON '' JUST AS MUCH AS YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3:16 (yammie tony)

believe in ya tony, your top dog IMO... ;)

Tony, I am not top of anything, I just do this day in and day out and know what works and what doesnt for the most part.

I dont understand what your trying to find out in this post? what you have isnt what these guys have so how could you compare it?

what one person has in his sled isnt the same as the next persons, and shouldnt be they are not the same rider weight, track size, conditions run etc. I hardly would brush off a apex as they are pretty stout, add some clutching and they really run, will they beat a srx, sure, can you beat a apex with a srx, sure, better be a good tuner though!

if your gonna add trail ported cylinders on your sled if they are done right youd get about 15hp from the porting, head cut and pistons modded. if your sled is slower then stock after you add 15hp to it then you have some clutching and set up work to do!

what i give to people for clutch set ups are not full out drag set ups for the very quickest et, its a trail ridng set up and so is the jetting etc, its meant to be fast yet have good trail manners, any oneofthese guys could take thier sled and make it nasty in a drag race if all they did was line up in a field and race over and over, the clutch set up would be alot differnt as well as the jetting and gearing.

its all gotta work together.
