i just use a piece of strap, cut it about 3/16 in too wide, chamfer the upper corners, bend them down and slide them in. they stay in great.

dual carbides are the fix, I found shimming did not work. even screwing around with the rear skid may help a little then you loose what ever you have worked on to get your rear suspension right.
Duals work great thats what they were made for. Scrubbing speed not really, turning sharpness yes you loose a little but I would rather loose the darting than sharper turning aspects.

I think shimming really helps, but take note I went to dual carbide Simmons because that works best, just costs more than shimming.

Cool if you have an extra set I'll take one (or two).

Well, I shimmed the skis with 1/4" delrin with stainless screws and I reduced the front preload quite a bit. I am also going to buy a set of easy steers from Royal Distributing, they look the same as what my old Formula Z had from the factory, they are only $14.95 for the pair (part # 008-9001B in blue of course). I'll let you know after this Saturday!

IMO
Had a set of dualies on my Viper, could not corner worth a

They are only about 25% worn off. Thru them out and put 6" for now while I wait for my bergstromm triple points.
Have the Berstromm's on my sx with ski savers and shims and no darting issues with awesome cornering capabilities on the twisty trails
Thanks for the advice guys, it made a huge difference! I rode it pretty hard today and am happy with the way it handled. The only thing that concerned me was that it was too loose in the back end, I talked to a few others and they all said that their machines were doing the same thing, just the trail conditions.

Ski Shims
Guys Remind Me Next Week. I Will Be Testing. If All Goes Well I Should Have Them In A Few Weeks. Ends The Problem Of The Ski Rubber Getting Squashed.

I used the Berstrom shim kit on my Viper and it made a big difference. I had a little darting before and all of it is gone with the shim kit.

JerseyJoe! I'm interested in a set as well. I would like to try shims before going to the extent of duals. I have suffered from darting - I think. I've never known any different just delt with it. Anyone got any pictures of their shims for me to look at? Thanks - I love this place

I made a set of shims last night in our machine shop. I used some lexan scraps we had. I made one set at 3/16" and another at 1/4". I put on a new set of Woody's trailblazer 6" carbides today and ended up shimming the front of the rubbers with the 3/16" shims, glue and some zinc coated screws. All of my wear was at the rear of my old carbides. Hopefully I am close to the 60/40% the Bergstrom article says to be at. Before the front of my runners sat above the floor. It looks like things are a bit more level now. We'll see.

Nice photos, are the shims stainless? Otherwise they might rust.
