Well after doing some investigating I have some numbers and such to throw out here for opinions.

First, I do believe this is a Hauck big bore engine. I can't discern between the 760 or the 780. (Is there such a thing as a 780?) I installed the Power Inc pipes and looked into the exhaust ports and seen real clean pistons with hardly any wear that were black in color. I don't know what the color OEM pistons are (assuming aluminium) but the Hauck website states teflon coated. The cylinder walls look excellent. I also peered into the cylinders through the spark plug hole and seen numbers stamped on the intake side top of the piston. The piston wash looks to be very close to optimum for the setup that was on it. So at this point I think I'm going ahead with the plan to set it up correctly for the Power Inc pipes.

Here are the specs as it sits.

Single head gasket
Stock reeds as far as I can tell
Power Inc end dump tripples

147.5 Mains across the board
Q-4 Nozzles
Clip in center with white washer under
45 Pilots
1.0 Pilot air
Fuel screws out 3 turns

8CH Belt
8CA01 w/one rivet inner
15mm Rollers
Pink-Yel-Pink, no shims

Hauck Magnum Power Shift roller
8BVFA Helix
Pink wrapped @ 70 dgrees

Stock gearing as far as I know with a new 1" Ripsaw track

I did ride this sled as is except for the pipes and it seemed to run well. I didn't have any room to let it snort but felt real snappy. The PO had a Viper exhaust kinda hacked and wedged in the cowl. Not for me, it didn't fit nor look right. So, If I get this setup right what can I expect. I want to set this up as a trail sled to be reckoned with.

Suggestions?

You get the pipes in OK? Hope they went in alright. I'm not sure about the rest of your setup, but you may need more jet if it is the big bore kit. I ran 147.5 without big bore kit. Keep me posted on how it goes for ya.

Good Luck.

Yup, they slid in like... #$%&* well you know. Perfect fit. Looks much better under the hood too. I'm going tune with them like they are and then maybe have them ceramic coated. BTW, they must have been yellow at one time eh? I think that would look trick with them coated yellow. Thanks again.

I thought the same thing to when I first got them. Maybe some type of high temp primer? You had a single pipe on it before, didn't realize that, when you picked up the pipes the other night I thought it had triples on it, but were all hacked up, that's why you were replacing them. Misunderstood you, that's cool though, cuz those triples are going to WAKE it up big time, once it's clutched properly and such.

If you end up needing some 89L weights, that's what was recommended to me, I got some I could send to you, just got to switch them out and put the stock ones back in. Sell em for like $60. They only got about 350 mi on em, pretty much new.

Ok.. Ya I'm kinda waiting to see if I get any tips or pointers on what I should do. I want to run it this weekend. I'm thinking to go up maybe three sizes on the jets. But I don't know what to set the others at. I don't really want to pull that rack again just to make a minor change. Nowhere as easy as my 600. I can have those off in ten minutes. but the more times a guy does it the faster ya get at it.

From what I seen the carbs are pretty much stock. How can that be with the big bore engine? I'm wondering if the Viper exhaust that was in there was that restrictive and he was able to keep the jetting stock. From what I seen on teardown those carbs haven't been off there in some time. They were clean as a whistle though.

BTW does anyone know who to contact about jetting info directly from Power Inc. Are they PSI now?

The setup Turk gave me was this, what I can remember anyways, not sure if any of this applies to a 760BB or not, but here goes:

147.5 mains straight across
47.5 pilots
raise needles 1/2 position
89L weights w/ 3.1g rivet (Mine have 4.5g, never switched the rivet to retune)
47/41 helix
Stock clutch springs

I'm not sure on the other carb adjustments though, I would wait for Turk to help you out though, he'll get you right where you need to be.

Wow, That seems awful rich. Oh well.. Umm... are you running the suggested different jets and needle setting in each cyl or all the same across the board? Also is yours piped?

I just got off the phone with Hauck Powersports. He has everything I need to set me up. I'm going to take all the specs I have and head up there tomorrow morning. I figured I might as well go straight to the engine builder for setup and advise. He told me the Power Inc pipes are a perfect trail setup for that sled. Apparently they run 82-8,500 rpms.

Thanks for all the info guys. I'll let ya know what she does if I get around to installing everything this weekend. I may just head out with the 600 for a day though. A fella can't spend all his time in the shop. :letitsnow

Well I made the trip and spoke to Pat himself. What a personable man and brimming with knowledge. I talked with him at length and he set me up from carbs to secondary. I was amazed at the fact that he knew what I should run right off the top of his head with just a few questions. I can't see how that engine ran properly with what the PO had in there. I believe that the Viper exhaust was very restrictive in comparison ti the Power Inc's. I changed mains, pilots and moved the clip on the pto cyl. He had the right (stock) nozzles. Adjusted the pilot screws and buttoned it up.

Changed primary per Pats recommendations and then installed a silver secondary set to what he said and put it on the trailer.

MY GOD! This thing is scary powerful and I live for power and speed. It makes my 600 feel like a 5 horse briggs and stratton. My 600 is what I thought plenty snappy.

I'm going to be liking this!!!!

Glad they worked out for ya!, like I said I didn't think they were too loud when cruising, they just bark a bit when you crack on it. Nothing real obnoxious though I don't think.

Enjoy the new power!

this isnt by chance the red and yellow sled that was on ebay a few weeks ago is it?

Yup. She cleaned up real nice. Engine internals look good from what is visible with manifiolds off, runs strong.
