Umm, you need to add weight to the tip, not remove it. What secondary spring you got in there and what is it at?

Green Spring @ 60. I Thought That More Tip Weight Would Make Me Over Rev Even More. In That Case Should I Add 1 Gram To The Tip? I Believe That Should Drop The Rpm To 8600!
You are the second person to say that to me. Am I loosing it???
Hmm, more tip weight means its easier to overcome the spring, which then causes the primary to close forcing the belt further up the sheave making it harder to turn, causing you RPMs to drop...
Nope, I think I'm right.

Yah it should get you very close to 8600. If you are doing bare ice runs you may want your secondary @ 50, but for trail 60 was better on my machine.2003VIPERER said:Green Spring @ 60. I gave you my set up that is dialed in on my sled. There are two reasons why you are over revving! #1 Is that you don't have enough weight in the Heel Clickers....with a single piped viper you need to spread the weight out between all the holes.....see my suggestion above. #2 Is that the green spring is too much. You are controlling the shift too much. Go back to the red spring at 70 and if it under rev's then wind it up 10 degrees to 80.
Trust me.....I've been through this!

I Will Give You Set Up A Shot Madmatt. Right Now I Have 4.5 Tip, 0 Mid, 4.5 Heel. Rpm's Go To 8600. Got It Up To 105mph And Let Off. Also I Have A Wheezing Like Sound Comming From My Primary Clutch. I Heard It Last Night When I Was Testing.so I Didnt Keep On Testing, Just Put It In The Garage For The Night. I Will Let Ya Know How It Works Out.

I'm not bashing here, but I also spent a lot of time dialing this setup in a ran a proven 114 on the gun (bare ice green @ 50). My trail setup (green @ 60) run a consistent 107 on the gun, even in 3" of powder. Every machine is different and there is more then one way to skin cat. Lets let him finish tuning this one in and if it doesn't work for him he can try moving the weight to the middle.
Curious, what did yours run on radar and/or speedo?

Sounds like to did the belt in. Try swapping it out with a different one (new if possible).2003VIPERER said:I Have A Wheezing Like Sound Comming From My Primary Clutch
What were your clutch temps like when you were testing it? Was either really hot or were they both equally warm?

I WILL STAY WITH WHAT I GOT FOR NOW. I WILL TRY USING A DIFFERENT BELT TO SEE IF THE NOISE GOES AWAY. ALSO I NOTICED THAT THE BOLTS THAT HOLD THE ROLLERS ON ARE TIGHT AS THEY GO, BUT SLIDE FROM SIDE TO SIDE A TINY BIT.CAN THIS CAUSE A PROBLEM?
No I think they are supposed to have play.

I Sure Hope So Cause I Have Read About Clutches Blowing Up And I Definetly Dont Want That To Happen. Both Of My Clutches Were Warm To Touch After 2 Wot Runs. Evenly Warm I Would Have To Say.
As long as you remembered the 2 washers on the inside (either side of the roller) its fine. It will not blow up. As I said there is supposed to be a little play.2003VIPERER said:I Sure Hope So Cause I Have Read About Clutches Blowing Up And I Definetly Dont Want That To Happen. I Do Have Those Plastic Washers In There, So I Do Feel Better Now. Thanks Again.i Would Assume The Same Would Go For The Clutch Arms(heelclickers)
Yepper! Exactly the same, but with some set screw thrown in the mix, lol.
Now go find some where to hold it to the bar for 5000' and tell me how it does. On hard pack you should see around 112-114 on the old speedo thingy.

Ok
Since I have not had my sled on radar I'll bow out now. By the way, Yammerdown, you sled is a short track right? Ours are both 136". And I assume that your set up was before you put the pipes on, right? Not after I hope as that would not mean jack. And also, the only reason I was telling him to get some weight in the middle hole is because I tried it with the middle hole empty first and although the sled may mph A LITTLE better, it does not shift as hard middle, in fact, mine slipped the belt a little with no weight in the middle. FOR TRAIL RIDING, not radar, the set up I gave him is just plain better. Sorry! I was just trying to steer him in the right direction since in the beginning of this thread he was obviously very confused.......adding tip weight to bring RPM's down?????

Madmatt, I Never Thought About Him Being 121 And Mine Is 136". I Will Give Your Set Up A Try Over The Weekend. Since I Already Have It Tuned In Now And Kept Good Notes On It, I Can Always Go Back To It. Thanks Yamerdown And Madmatt For All Your Help. I Will Let You Know How It Goes , Comparing One Set Up To The Other.
Ya
UM yeah. There is a huge difference in a 1 1/4 136" track and a 121 ESPECIALLY if his is a 1" or smaller. You will NEVER see the MPH he is talking about with a stock motor (MAYBE on the speedo but not on the gun) unless you drop your sled out of a plane!!! I've been trying to get you to try this because our sleds are so close to the same set up.

I WILL GIVE IT A SHOT MADMATT. I DONT HAVE ANY THING TO LOSE. I WILL KEEP YA POSTED ON THE OUTCOME. THANKS FOR THE ADVICE AND Patience Greg
Hey man like I said, wasn't trying to bash. Just wanted him to finish with one course of action before going off in another direction. I think chucking one setup out prematurely and switching to someone else’s entirely different is what cause 90% of the heel clicker frustrations you see on here.Madmatt said:Since I have not had my sled on radar I'll bow out now. As for the 136, I’ll admit I missed that, but I don’t know how big an impact it will have on his clutching. Yes, it will certainly bring his top speeds down a bit, but I would still expect him to see 108-110 on the speedo.
WRT the pipes, lol, that setup wouldn’t be very good for triple pipes. Yes it’s a single pipe setup.
