alright I need honest help!

Nice sled,We absolutely love are Doo. 2,700 miles on her now (and not easy ones), zero problems, so don't believe all the rumors you here about the 08 XP. It did a good job towing my Viper home after it blew up.

it really sounds like the yamaha is set up wrong... I feel like I had a lot better luck with my 600 twin :) but if the doo makes you happy then enjoy! and good luck with the viper, I really love mine with the mono in it :)

It's not really that the sled is set up wrong, it's more my riding style doesnt fit the sled. With some money and time it would ride lot better I know. The problem is the money it would take just isnt worth it to me because it is slow enough as it is for me so the m10 will be detrimental to me, and for a litte motor it is very bad on gas. Plus on top of that work I did notice some issues with the motor that might be pointed to needing the top end done, plus the right front trailing arm slightly caved in and needs replacing. All the front end parts need painting bad. I'm considering ripping the entire sled down and rebuilding.. I haven't made a decision yet though.. If it was a 700 it might have gotten the full treatment but its not even a triple. On the other hand this sled definitely holds a strong place in my heart... From a money stand point newer sled and then a slow build up on the yami was in order for me..

I dont mean to make this sled sound beat either, the yami is very well taken care of but it is gettin up there in age/mileage which is where all the work is coming to play. Last year I spent 500bucks to have the sled completely gone through. Replaced the track, alot of bearings/seals bushings etc. I just don't want to be putting a ton of money into "redesigning" its suspension/power flaws. Especially considering it books at $2300 or less I would rather clean it up more and use it for different riding and have another sled to handle those rough rides! I think the thing is I dont want the sled to keep getting what I'm given it because I want to keep it. I mean this year alone I am up to 1600+ miles, 1400 of which were on rough trail riding on the yami. The poor thing needs a break!

lol! I did the thin head gasket, clutched it and put reeds in and it would consistently make my friends 583 look pretty slow! would cook my moms sxr 600 too :) but the mileage wasnt as good as the sxr, although it sure did handle better and ride better ( I did the long legs kit on mine). but the sx was a bit different setup than your vmax. either way, sounds like you have a pretty good plan :)
