Hey,

I want to know what i can do with my stock clutches on my 2001 srx, how much potential is in the stock primary and secondary clutches? I have no idea what i want, mainly because i don't know what i can gain, if i could get the best of both worlds and get better accel, and better top end (more then i already have) that would be a plus....

Am i better off Keeping it all stock? i hear they are real finicky to get just right.....
i was interested in that E.R kit from Hi tech performance clutching the Encapsulated Roller bolt on kit, they note that you gain smoother shifting, stronger acceleration, and more power when used in conjunction with the right set up on your drive clutch.... So does that mean i can't just bolt that on and expect gains with out doing other things to my clutches?

If some one could give me the low down on the best options for performance gains out of my clutches that would be great! also would like an honest opinion if i should just keep it stock, this won't happen till i get winterized, so i have plenty of time to explore my options.

heres that link to the E.R Kit http://www.hitechperformance.com/encapsulated_roller.asp

Thanks alot
Joe

Yes you can get great results from the stock clutching, what type of riding
yo do 90% of the time??

figure that out then set up your clutching for that type of riding and i think
you'll be happy, again you can get great performance from the stock clutching

try a search on srx clutching and you'll have LOTS of good reading..

Mainly trail riding, i go up north often and the trails there are real nice and you can easily maintain an avg. speed of 60 mph +, if i see a nice strait i take advantage of it, by no means do i "beat" my sled, i don't know if thats what your asking when you say what kind of riding do i do, its rarely wot from stand still, trail crusing... in a n ut shell.

my buddy got that er roller clutch from hi-tech this year and it rocks. setup your primary with heavy hitters weights and the black heavy hitter spring. then get the er high tech roller and run the cpc red/white spring and a 50/46 helix. it will rock. the spring i can get locally and possibly the helix. this guy might have some of this yet in stock.

The ER kit is the way to go, got ER's and Paragons on everything, you'll love the punch off a corner, I have the helix if you need it, I have ER kits as well.

Is that all one brand? for what i'd need for my primary? from heavy hitter? is that the maker?

you can get heavy hitters from fett bros performance. heavy hitters aren't made by hi-tech. hi-tech only makes the er (encapsulated roller) and 911 response kits (for primary) and the paragon secondary (very expensive-like $800). just get your primary setup w/heavy hitter weights and heavy hitter black primary spring (will come w/48g weights). setup the weights to how heavy hitter suggests. I would probably dial in the h/h with the stock secondary (47deg helix, red spring @ 80) first and then throw on the er roller and fine tune the secondary from there. you will only need to adjust the "hat", which adjusts the pre-load on the spring. just give me a call (920-905-0969) and I will give you whatever info you need. much easier than typing:)

yeah 800, these hi-tech products just rock! not 2 thumbs up...more like 4 thumbs up!

Heavy Hitter Cam Arm - 48 was on there website, is that what i want right there? they have 53, 58 also....wheres the black spring at???? See this clutching aspect for my sled would be so much easier if i knew what i all needed.......

Basically in a nutshell???

Heavy HItters cam arm-48 gram
Encapsulated Roller from Hi Tech
Black spring....... before all this happens i need to get a red spring for my secondary? and fine tune it before i put the ER on it?

Holy chit confused.....

How much will i gain in reality with this set up? will it be so much better then stock? it better be for 500 + bucks.

Yamidude59,

Man save your money and just do the old famous 8DN-20's loaded,WWW,RX-1 helix set up,,she'll rip..

do a search on "WWW",you'll get allot of good reading for srx set ups that will cost hardly nothing using stock parts...

Or try this setup.....I took this from one of the other posts going!!!!!!!!

8BU-00 WEIGHTS
13.9 INNER
13.3 TIP
WHITE MAXXIMUM SPRING
50-40 HELIX @ 2-6
GREEN SPRING.

obviously everyone has different Point of views on different clutch set ups, hence where my problem lies........ Daman where do i get that set up from?

Daman, whats the difference between the setup you showed me to the one riverrunner gave me?

which one am i better off with i'll go with what you reccomend, since you know what your talking about, not like anyone else doesn't, its just hard to make up my mind when 3 other people are suggesting a setup, when one person could clarify.

Heres the deal....WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SPEND????? The setup that daman gave you uses your stock weights and all you do is add rivets to it and a spring and a helix. Making it a really cheap and very good setup that A LOT of people use. If you are looking to get a much better setup for a good price without a lot of tuning i would do the one daman suggested or the one I posted....YAMIGOD's setup which is the one that I gave you! I would do the one daman said because I would rather spend money in gas then clutching!! Oh and the setup from daman is all yami parts and that is sweet too!!!!

i want to keep it simple, what daman said sounds like a good deal, if i bring my sled to my dealer i just tell them the setup i want? which is the numbers that daman gave me right?

The set up RR posted if from yammiegod 3:16(tony) and is a good set up
but i don't know what set up(lake, trail, aggressive trail, etc.?) the one i posted is a tried and trued set up that allot of guy's run, it's an "all-around" good set up.

please do a search on "WWW",,you'll see what i'm talking about,if you want to save money and go fast that'll do it,there's other set up's that will work sure but this one is cheap!!! :)

Whats the deal with the Rx-1 helix set up? is that something i'd need to get off of an Rx-1?

So i tell the dealer i would like the 8DN-20's Loaded, WWW with the Rx-1 helix Set up..... does that cover both the primary and the secondary?

Mainly i just want to know also....... if i get that setup put in, will i have to mess with it once its in? or is it install and forget? will my Rpms be different? and what will i gain? will i loose top end or accel? Pretend your talking to a 1st grader about calculus.

You want a helix off of an rx-1 51-43. You might have to play with it a little....every sled is different but you should be really close. Your secondary should be 80 wrap...2 and 6! RPM's should be close and you can get them spot on in no time.;)!

You will gain accel and topend...think about it this way when yami puts your sled together they are making a general clutch for all 700 srx's but when you do this you will tune your clutches to your sled with you on it. When you get the setup in you will be able to tell us what you are running for rpm and you can tune from there. Once you get it tuned you are good to go....plus you will learn some in the process!!!!
