Just wanted to let you all know something about shipping since alot of buying and selling goes on on here. I Purchased tow mirrors for my truck from a member on a ford forum. He sent them to me UPS, and the box was damaged badly while being shipped. Broke the drivers mirror but not the passengers. I put in a claim to UPS to get it resolved. They picked it up from my work to do a claim process check and determine what was going to happen with the claim and told me I would either get the package back or get a check instead and they would contact me either way. They were supposed to contact me to notify me the status before it was sent out/paid for etc. Somehow they never notified anyone, and shipped it straight back to the shipping company the seller used to originally send them out to me.
I called UPS last night and UPS told me that there was a check being cut as the item was definitely found to be damaged during shipping and they would call me today. I got know call..again. I call ups again tonight to verify as I was getting worried about this now. They then said the claim was actually denied, and no check was to be sent anywhere. They said they were sorry for miss information, and the package has been returned to the shipper. They told me the package should have been returned to me but somehow was returned to shipper, but they are not at all liable for the package now because it's now in the shippers hands and is now the shippers responsibility. Then they said even if a check were to be cut it had to be cut to the original shipping company, and then to the original seller and it would be his/her responsibility to pay me. Totally opposite of what they said in the beginning, I have emails to prove it.
So basically they damaged the product, lied at least twice. Never contacted me. Sent the package to the wrong person. Acknowledged they broke it, but because they sent it to the wrong person they were no longer liable for the package or payment or replacement. So if they took my product and sent it back to the seller with a check too then he obviously is not legally liable to give me anything, and honestly who the hell would.. it was ups's screw up to ship it to him, and my choice to give it back to ups with miss information.
So i now paid for a product, had it damaged during shipping. The company that damaged the product sent it to the wrong person, and now all I get to enjoy is the fact that they said this is all standard procedure and they are sorry.. Sounds f-ed up to me.. I don't know what to do now.
Confused yet cause I sure am..
