thinking about buying 2003 or newer cbr600rr

Well, A 600 may be all i'd ever need, i like the idea its nice to have more then enough, just incase your between a rock and a hard place, it will get you out. lol...... will the 750 beat my buddies 600s? dumb question.... I don't plan on finding out top end speed until i get to the point where i know the bike like the back of my hand....

But in the end my weight won't effect speed or accel on either a 600 or 750?

Yeah D&D is a little over the top. I had an Akra on my R6 and have TI's on my 1 and I can say they both sound good when you want them to.

yeah in first no issue, but 5500 in second will almost bog it, ok that was an exaggeration.

A vtwin not having the hp you require???

have you seen the new RC8's power charts? or the 1098's?

It doesn't matter, it is all about skill. which is why it is fun passing "faster" bikes in corners on a bike with less hp.

Buy a 600 and learn how to ride it. Riders being equal a 750 will beat a 600. On the flip side I have seen 600's beat liter bikes because the rider was inexperienced.

A 1098 would do, but to rich for my blood, they dont sell them around here, and no place to get them worked on.
 
Is there any down side to the Suzukis? I know hondas are great, don't know much about the suzuki engines, particulary the gsx-r 750....... Their powerband good? good low, mid and top end range?

They start at 15k. Only technically 3k higher than the japanese literbikes.
The new RC8 and other 1200cc ktm v twins are supposed to be in the ballpark as well, with a semi naked model that should be no more than a japanese I4..

but then again, you don't see 1098s drastically reduced to like 9k like the mainstream 4.......

For me, the KTM/ Aprilia/ Suzuki/ Ducati dealer is 12 minutes north of me. Corse Superbikes.

FWIW, my tls makes the same HP, and more tq than the RC51s that have run on the same dyno day shootouts as I. Granted an Arsey51 is 100% track ready with a perfectly matched suspension, I can't say the same about a TLS from the factory, nor a TLR for that matter. Both need rar shock upgrades to match lap times of the RC.

speaking of uncomfortable bikes, there is a reason the RC is called the Arsey. If you are small it works fine, but if you are anywhere near 6" they are a rack, far worse than any 1st Gen 600RR. But I would take one for a track bike :)

make no mistake, suzukis are awesome bikes, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Suzuki really knows how to make a powerful reliable engine. Those 750's are 120- 135hp stock (year dependant), and have a sizable TQ increase over the 600's. Many consider the gsxr750 the perfect bike.

keep in mind, many insurance companies rate by engine displacement, so a 750 would be more $$ thana 600, but less than a 1000, and less thana 1300 busa. state farm Solely goes by displacement and year (cost too), so a 1500cc 03 cruiser will run more premium wise than a 03 cbr600RR given the same msrp.

yeah, D+D's make sound, but that is it D+D's sometimes take away HP vs stock, and most apps they don't add anything but noise and less weight than stock. That is based on many talks with the 2 dynojet 250 operators in my area. The dyno guy (certified btw)at Mid Cites Motorsports was telling me once on a CBR900rr a guy bought a D+D slip on and had it installed and tuned there and it made less power than the stocker no matter what he did to tune it. He also said that wasn't the only time he has seen that. To me D+Ds make an annoyingly loud sound versus all the other pipes.

That is the former owner of TLPlanet.com's 03 TLR (the last of the TL's and my 97 is the first of the TL's).

Once my GF and I get our own house, I will have at least 2 bikes though, maybe 3 or 4 if I can get her to learn....;)

I believe it,it might of been me but my 03 felt stronger with the stock pipe.I have a set of microns on my 04 R1 and they are pretty quiet until you get on the gas,then they scream.

I can buy any i4 literbike for $11000, they will perform with and at times outperform the Duc....stock. Now add 4 grand in mods(Ohlins,and pipes) and see where the Duc is at. I wont pay 4 grand for a name.

I hear ya...

But it is more than a name. While the last Duc I personally dealt with was a lemon (new in 03 monster 620), they generally are very well built, have no real handling quirks or things like that and they hold their value. Plus Ducati really stands behind their machines.

Have you ever riden a proper sporting twin? I have been on my fair share of bikes from most brands, and I always feel the twins have more "soul" to them.

I do know I fit nicely on the 04-06 R1, and while I have not tried an 07-08 r1, I am sure that I would still fit right on one of those as well.

now if yami would make a real sporting v twin superbike, I might be all over that. Suzuki's SV 1k still has not yet been made to be a top spec sportbike, even after 5 years of development.

a few $$ could have better forks, and rear shock on it and it would be much closer to what I would want, but they still have yet to do that.

Aprilia has done it , esp with the new 1200, but even the liter versions are very nice bikes, tuono, mille, whatever, any year.
 
thinking about getting a 2007 Gsx-R 750 for 10200, i'll save up, pay half of it off when i walk in the door.... My parents are being real a$$holes about it though.. The whole, getting my priorities strait speech...... well let me tell ya, i'm getting a car this summer, paying for my own gas, insurance, and maintence....... This bike is something I WANT.... don't nessicarily NEED it, but you only live once.... and i figure i'll ride till i die, hopefully not die when i'm riding...... Plus, my buddies might not be in town in the next few years due to job transfers, college, or who knows what...... When and if i have kids... I won't hesistate to let them get what they want, as long as they have what they need, and are financially sound..... Which in my case i am.... I'm in college now full time, which means i only work part time now, but its a one year that i'm in, start full time in summer and will continue to work full time at this job for years, no intentions of quiting..... nor am i on the bad side with the boss, so being fired is not in my future hopefully.....
 
Got an insurance quote for the bike.... Full coverage is like 900 dollars a year.... if i get that put on with my car insurance....

hmm, I have heard worse quotes for an under 25 yr old.

An 07 750 for 10,200?? is that a new or used bike-how many miles? seems a little high. remember that is a last years model, and you can buy any japanese literbike OTD for 10k. the 750's msrp $1000 or so under the gsxr1k so you should be able to get an 08 for 9k without much work (if any).

where did you get this quote?

If you don't mind a little trip to Kenosha, I could hook you up on a much better deal. Granted, you are looking at making the purchase next year, but you could do a lot better than 10,200.
 
I got the quote from state farm.... I wouldn't mind going to kenosha for a bike? is it a used bike or new? are you talking about going to a dealer down there? I wouldn't mind getting a New Gixxer 750
 
Horkn-heres the dealer i went to and the bikes they have... Their 2008 gsx-r750 goes for 10,600. and their Liter bike goes for 11,400..... busa is 12,000

If you can find me a Gsx-R 750 with very low miles, or better y et new perferable 1 year old.... then let me know when you want to go to kenosha... i'm more concerned with getting me actualy license for riding a motorcycle..... Its nice to know i don't need to have my temps to get my license, but it always would help to practice.....
