what are you guys running for a belt on the srx? mine has an 38x4420 xtreme(gates) belt on and has an yamaha 89L-17641-01 in the holder.

That sled should have come from the factory setup for an 8DN. The 8DN is a very hard belt which requires more side pressure, but is very durable. It is a very good belt for the higher powered Yamaha sleds with stock clutches.
Unless your clutches have been adjusted to work with the other belts, then your setup is likely off while running those belts. The 89L is a softer compund and is used on the lower powered Yamaha sleds. I didn't bother to look up the specs on the Gates belt, but it is likely a softer compound as well.
Personally I like the 8DN for most setups on stock Yamahas. If you need more adhesion for a specific setup, then you might consider another belt. Just be sure that you match the setup to the belt.
Full part Number : 8DN-17641-00-00

Stock engagement is 3800.
1/16 should be fine, I usually set mine between 1/16 - 1/8. Much higher than an 1/8 and it squeals and drive me nuts.
I like to jack the track off the ground and set it that way. At idle the track should slowly spin, turn with jerky movement, or be able to spin with slight help from you.
