yes to all questions ...lol you will have to cut the tip of ebrake thing and mount in the actuating lever ...chilli said:well, yammy has a part number for that piece that holds the cable, I checked the dealership here but they dont have it 90249-06009-00
The proplem is I dont have one to copy. I guess I could make one out of cardboard like I have done in the past....
Everything seems to be very specific and if I have this new brake cable, I assume the tolerance is pretty tight.
From reviewing the pictures, I see that all the ball-joint style linkages have been removed, and the cable thing would mount right to the C shaped thing on the reverse actuator.
So correct me if any of this is wrong:
1 - shed all the linkage, cable will mount right to the brass C shaped actuator for the reverse
2 - the part that the cable pin connects to comes from cutting off the tip of the ebrake thing
3 - the cable doesnt work like normal, but the PIN itself does the actuating of the revrese, not the END of the cable that moves. The END of the cable goes into the fabbed mount and stays put, whereas the PIN does the actual movement of the reverse actuator

How often/easily can you get those made? I plan on doin the same as Chilli on my 01 in the spring and if thats the missing link, it seems to me like it would be worth it to pick one up now while I know where to find it. I might be intrested in getting another one from ya if its possible.....let me know. Thanks

ok so what the hell do you use to grind down that battery mount?
I used my bench grinder and it will take 1o years...My angle grinder is broken and I need to get a new one...
What did you fellas use? What do you recommend to grind that down more easily?

Grab a reverse kit off of a sxr or a vmax use that chaincase and bolts right on no relocating of anything I have reverse on my 01 and 02 srx currently and two srx's previously and ran over 10000 miles and the only glitch was the linkage bolt that goes into the chaincase cover fell out once! no loctite!!!
or a hack saw or sawsall with fine blade ...

he is converting it to cable reverse so there is no hole to cut in the hood and no sign of the shifter ......

naw, grinder worked perfect but Im still very sad that I cant keep my dynoport exhaust with the reverse setup.
I am going to give it an honest effort with the stock exhaust...I have a feeling the reverse will outweigh the can...The thing that sucks is the sound of my sled was my favorite thing about it....

Yeah, there is no way that I was willing to notch out the hood, and run with all that linkage and stuff...
Theres a reason the srx didnt come with those.....all business... The thing that convinced me to even pull this off was the fact that it was "stealth" using the ebrake...makes it that much better...sleeper style...lol
REALLY BUMMED I cant keep my dynoport to pull it off....

are you sure u cant keep the can ...or dent it were you need clearence ? lol

no....
I dented the piss out of it, and it still wont clear....its a 3 can setup, and the middle one hits the chaincase where the reverse actuator is...im so bummed out about that....I could shave the case a bit, but it wont make enough difference
I didnt want to compromise on that, becasue like I say, that dynoport sounds AMAZING, and I always get comments on how wicked it sounds when I pull up on groups, to gas stations etc.
DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it an individual can set-up? Or are they tied together? Thinking you might be able to modify the bend/re-route the can in the way. A muffler shop might be able to help with the bend?

They are all tied together....yes, I am considering seeing if a muffler shop CAN bend the can to more of an upright position...and I'd have the BEND the upper part to mate to the stock pipes as well. What I may do it make a crude TRACING of it on cardboard to determine the shape of it as stock, and then se if a muff shop can rework it a bit for me...its JUST the middle pipe so....
If I can keep the dyno and reverse thats be 100% perfect.
I have a gut feeling I may miss the dynoport too much but....again, thats where the reverse convenience may outweight the seperation-enxienty...lol

I am still going to toy with the idea of modding the dynoport to work though...that dam middle can is the one giing me all the grief
just a thought but can you cut a hole in the can were u need room and have a peice of metal welded (concave)back over hole to cover it ...i am aware if too much modification is made it will effect the performance of the pipe...guess we need a pic of the can were clearence is needed ...or email a pic to me ..tom.. so we can help you come up with a idea ....
