yeah I can snap a pic...but I think the only way it'll work is to unweld the can from its currect position in the bank of 3, and re-position it....its very very tight though, but sems if I could git it to slide in, it will JUST clear

dam, its not going to work even if I mod the can...SHit
For those of you that have done this mod on SRX, have all of you used your stock exhaust? If you still run can, which type?

I still have my mod. mbrp (much more volume and packing) but had to dent it alot!! But i'm loocking for a bender can to replace the mbrp. I think the bender should fit even without denting?chilli said:dam, its not going to work even if I mod the can...SHit

no, even if I unweld, by making it vertical, Id have to cut away even more of my underside plastic, and its almost at the spot where it starts to come up the side so....
Im going to try it anyways just for shits and giggles but I dont see it happeneing
Its a dynoport can

so I grinded down that bolt, and seem to have everything all ligned up and clearanced.
Wow, there is VERY LITTLE room to work in there, and is going to be hard to get the cable indexed in the holder (threaded part, not cable end)once the cover goes on.
Im sure it'll go, but I wonder how much cable movement is needed to engage the reverse? I guess I'll have to ensure there is ZERO slack so when the lever is moved, the cable moves right away...not alot of tolenance there....
Im soo close now, but it was -20 out last night, and I ran out of firewood...so had to stop early...too cold to be turning wrenches...lol

you dont got that on yet ?? lol ...once it is all hooked up ...you will have to adjust the nuts on the threded end of cable ....the lever at the case olny moves 1/2 inch at the most ....not as much as you think it would to enguage ...the suspence is killing me here i just want to know how much you like it when you get to try it out .....bracket i made for you sounds like it is working just getting your hands in there to adjust it is the hard part ...all you need is a little japanese guy with small hands to get in there for you

lol, no I lost 2 days when my snowblower decided to go on the frits, and it as freezing out last night, so I quit early...
No goddam snow anyways, rain on monday ruined everything but its dropping to -25 overnight, high of only -20 tomorrow....next 4 days, highest it'll get is -16 so let it make ICE and freeze all the waterways so they can open the trails...she'll be ready

So, last night, went out to the hed, fired up the woodstove with full intentions of having the sled running when I left.
Struggles, swore almost cried, and finally gotr the dam cable seated properly, and the reverse worked like a charm, very slick.
So, I fully tighten the chaincasue cover bolts, and then the lever is binding on the shaved bolt! GRRRR
So, had to take it all apart again (while wondering if Id ever get the cable back on) shaved the bolt some more, and the lever for clerance...dry fit shows lots of room now, but I cant get the dam cable back on for the life of me....tried another 10-15 times...cant get it!!!
So, very frustrated, I decided to leave it for now....went and re-installed my powervalves and added more coolant, but cant purge the coolant nor adjust power valves until I get the pipes/muffler back on,, cant put those on until chaincase cover is done.....GRRRR
Had to walk away, had a huge headache, and I didnt have any spirit left in me.
Im hoping taking a fresh approach will be good but I was so mad last night.....this dam reverse BETTER BE WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL, I feel better today

SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Got the cable back on, tightened everything down and there is roughly 1/16th of an ich clearance, but the main thing is, NO RUB, and the reverse engages nicely (by the feel and sound)
Now, I need more coolant before I can fire it up and test for sure, but was in a much better mood last night
Not that everything went smooth, for some reason, I fought like mad to get the skid back in....I put it back in prematurely last week, and needed to add the "small wheel kit" but that had to be done with skid out....got it in finally, never had so much trouble with the skid install...then again, first time i did it with all 4 rear wheels installed...so thats likely why
Now need to adjust PVs and go!

Man Chilli, sounds like you've had your hands full with this project, huh? Its been a while since I had a chance to check up on this one and see how its goin, that seems like it was quite a bit of agervation to get it all together. Glad to hear you got everything back together and it seems to be workin for ya! Now you just need to get out on that damn thing and see how it works for real.
I wouldnt mind seein some pics of the final product. I have a dynoport can too (couldnt agree more - I LOVE that sound) and I kinda wanna see just how much of a pain its gonna be to get all that in there, sounds like you had a hell of a time.
Let us know how it goes once you get out on it - should be sweet!!! - im kinda jelous

well thanks to both of you
Betheviper, WOW you have mad skills coming up with that Idea.
Yamahead - thanks a million for the advice, coaching and most of all the bracket!!!!
Deviant, you wont be able to keep the dynoport if you do this...but Im glad someone knows my pain of having to go back to stock muffler!!!!

Damn that sucks.... I guess I have a decision to make.
Still curious to see what it all looks lik in there. I guess I dont get what is taking up all the space... the linkage? It seems like there is a decent amount of room around the can... what exactly gets in the way?

the larger chaincaise cover...so the reverse gear has room....now that its tightly bolted in, its much closer to get it to fit, but would potentially melt my under-plastic, as the middle and rear-most can touch the plastic..
I dented the crap out of one of them, and the other may be "motivated to fit as well" I am toying with the idea of getting a muffler shop to see fi they can do it, but I need to have all the opriginal measurements incase I go back to forward only one day <-- doubt it but....
Its a shame though, becasue I wasnt expecting to have to compromise

also there is no linkage with the ebrake method...its the fact that the dynoport has 3 cans, all of which with their own hole....I think the HAUK or similar still has 3 cans, all going out the original main hole....but as you know, thee dyno uses 3 smaller holes...cans 2 and 3 hit the chaincase cover

I see..... I might be able to pull it off then cuz I think I have a different can. I was told it was a dyno port when I bought it but mine still has three inlets and one main out. No individual cans, Hmmmmm.......

maybe mine is an older model...should have dyno port stamped right on the front can

Ok so, sled is now running and assembled but there is a problem
there is a huge amount of drag on the track, secondary etc. The engine has to rev up just to move the track, and it stops right away.
The brake caliper looks a little funny to me, but I can feel it grab properly when you squeeze the handle
My thoughts are the chain may me too tight, or the brake may be on.
As for the reverse, its all buttoned up, but seeing how the track doesnt move free, I didnt test it under throttle, but I can feel it engage
Need to sort out this gremlin but Im happy to hear how nice she still sounds while idling
Sheesh, this is not a mod for the faint of heart, but IF it all works out - very very cool!
