I was going to build a 780 so I bought a set of used v force 3's. Well decided against the build so now I have these reeds. I have ported 700 cylinders would these be at all benefical or should stick with my stockers?
could help for sure

Just trying to figure out if I should sell them or keep them.

Can't beat the stock reeds & cages on a stock engine. Now that you have increased air flow through the engine by porting, the v-force reeds will increase throttle response and horsepower (4-5 midrange and 3 on top end). The reeds compliment the porting very nicely.

They do make power a few hp on the dyno. However, they do tend to crack and chip frequently in the SRX's. Reed spacers do help for this, and I don't mean the thin spacers that come with the V-Force 3's, but thicker ones.
I find that the V-Force in trail applications are more of a headache than anything, and you will be changing pedals on a regular basis.
For any motors that make 175hp or less, the stock reeds are more than adequate. When you start to build engines that require more flow to build more than that hp, the stock reeds start to flutter, and aftermarket reeds are the only solution.

I have over 20k on my ported SRX, I changed the petals at 16k when I re-rung, the petals were still useable but had small chips on the top petals only. I got more than a couple(2) hp with my engine. I guess I must be lucky.

i would suggest stock cages w/carbon tech petals. good bang for the buck. yes, v-forces do nothing but chip/crack. very short petal life. carbon techs last a few thousand miles.

TripleX, did you dyno your sled before and after installing the reeds? The V-Force 3's only make a 2.3 hp increase at 8500rpm. They do help a bit more in the midrange. They ONLY make hp when they are in perfect condition. If you have small chips in the pedals, it is hurting your performance.

Valin, yes the engine was dyno before & af., mentioned the gains above. After 16,000 km the sled was still embarrassing ZR 900's, Mach Z 800 & 1000's and the odd Thundercat. There are some people on here that think "if I can't get the gains than no one can". I am not going to start a pissing match here, believe what you want, I am done.

remember guys, each dyno reads different, so don't get too caught up in hp #'s.

All x2ryder wanted to know if they were beneficial on a ported SRX, and the answer is yes.

i didn't disagree w/that.

Nor did I. They do make power, just not when they are cracked or chipped, and it happens often enough. To me, it's not worth the hassle for trail applications.

I use Carbon Tech Reeds HT 370 in my drag and they work great. Pat Hauck used these on his SRX drag sleds as well. +2Hp Low and Mid and with +4Hp Peak with Hauck triple pipes. So I say they are better then stock. I notice better throttle response and mid range was improved.

From my expierence and others on race motors the carbon tech reeds on stock cages made more power then vforce.

its my 2 cents the vforce reeds are a waist of money as i,ve had the same problem with them on my vmax4800 craking and breaking, like the guys say carbon tec,s work well as thats what i use allso , and of coarse u want the best then go bouYsen with the raGE CAGE.
