I gotta try to get a job before the hundreds of thousands of other people are out of work. Either that or I will move to another State - close my eyes and bolt my doors shut in an effort to stop the wave of economic depression from creeping in.
We laid off 1/3 of our shop last week.
One of our major customers (non automotive) moved out about 2/3rds of their orders because their customers couldn't get funding for the next phases of their projects. The global credit crunch is biting us on the a**.
I wish I had a job for you.
I'm on the road alot and if you want to get me a resume I'll keep my eyes and ears open and give you a good word if I can.

LIFE MEMBER ONLY ONCE!!!
it is not over till the Fat Lady sings or man for that instance. It is hard to believe that a product like an automobile could be the demise of a nation. We have to get back to simple times, simple cars.We don't need hi-tech auto's with computers telling us everything, cars that park themselves, how far we can go when the fuel gauge reads 1/4 tank...etc.This is all BS!!! This seems to be the way with a lot of products,,to hi-tech.We don't need all that crap.A simple car with 4 wheels and a steering wheel and fuel efficient motor..that's it.Same goes for electronics and the latest fad and device.Who the hell needs them.People are sucked in to buy this stupid things.
I for one don't agree with a bailout for these guys. They didn't look ahead and should of re-structured a long ways back. They are behind the times. They are greedy and kept building these vehicles as long as the consumer is stupid enough to keep buying the big cars and trucks.Consumers here are also not thinking when purchasing ,same thing as the people who purchased big homes
beyond their means. It all had to fall apart somewhere, couldn't just keep going.Everyone wants a big house, want a full size pick-up or SUV fully loaded because they think why shouldn't they have it,everyone else is doing it.
Even when times where good,I was looking to buy a new GMC Sierra 4x4 ,but the costs where just to high for me to justify,so instead I bought a used Ford Pick-up for $14,000.Works good for me and is a work truck anyways.
Same things with the sleds.New ones are just to high priced here in Canada,I stick to my used SXR and SRX..works for me.I owe no one any money, mortgage free and enjoying the life I have with no worries of going under.
Of course the price of fuel going up was not expected and that effected probably a lot of vehicle sales from the big 3.Now gas is down..are people expected to go buy gas guzzlers again..no.There are a number of big companies in line after these Auto giants for bail-outs.When is it going to stop. Why don't the families who lost their house's not being bailed out first, aren't they important enough.
I feel sorry for the retailers come this xmas.A lot more business going to go down here to..it isn't over yet,the worse is yet to come.On the way home today I heard a commercial from Ford for the new 2009 Pick-ups advertising on the radio...I was thinking..hum!!!!!who is going to buy them, not me.
People are going to have to prepare for the tough times ahead and that damn stock market is just dropping like a stone...man o man!!!!! What a world we are living in now,but people have predicted this was coming and did the people listen. The consumer has the power to change things with their buying power to.And if all fails, then what is stopping these giants to move all their plants to other countries where the wages are peanuts, which seems to be the next wave in keeping companies alive. Will us Canadians and the Americans be willing to drop their wages down to a few bucks an hour to keep the plants in our countries. What happens if a bail out is given and then these giants start to move their plants for the good of their pocket books.Put yourself in the mind of the big guys who run these plants, they are just looking to make that profit and earn bonus's....do they really care about the worker and their community. They are a different breed..high rollers. The example about flying in with their corporate jets tells the story.Just my 3 cents.

I have worked automotive for over 10 years. Was union and non union. I can honestly say I loved my job at chrysler, when I started working there. I am an engineer, and we had a plant 3,000,000 square feet. Like 5500 machines. I was the technical support guy on 3rd shift. If the trades couldn't fix it I was who they called. I hired in 1998 right at the end of the boom of the 90's. I didn't make less than $120K/year. There was one year when I made $160K if I remember correctly. I worked lots of OT, but still.
Anyway, I still talk to some people I used to work with, and many of the union folk have the entitlement attitude. Basically are telling people if the government doesn't give the money then the economy will fail. This might happen, but tell me this, why are you expecting the $15/hr worker(taxpayer) to help you keep your $28/hr when you have millions in the sub fund, money in the job bank fund and money in the pension fund. Mind you I am supposed to get a pension from chrysler when I reach retirement age. Come on all of these guys say it is just a loan, last time they loaned the money they got it back. Well if it is such a good investment, then use the sub fund, pension money, job bank, towards the bailout. When talking to someone the other day about the bailout, and the $15/hr came up, one of the UAW members reply was(they should have gotten a better job) I wanted to say, well you should have worked for a better company, and you wouldn't need the money. I understand the frustration of the CEO getting hug money, but come one, this is a company problem(all employees) all of the employees should contribute to help the company. THen you get the UAW person saying, if you don't give us the money, then I will be out of a job and get unemployment. Well guess what, would they rather have $1000 per week or $300? It just seems you can't get most of them to admit that if the company goes under, yes the whole economy will be dealt a blow, but the guy who will really be hurt the most will be the detroit 3 autoworker. I could go on and on about the stuff I saw when I worked there.
Sleeping does happen, stealing does happen, corruption is rampant. I got burnt out and that was one of the reasons I left. I make the same base wage, but don't have to deal with the place that thinks your just a number. Let me work on a $33million dollar caseline, but want to know why I put down 2 hours of OT.

There is NO money! Profits are actually illegal because they represent the taxes withheld and not paid to the people, the original issue discount! This is all smoke and mirrors and is being done by design, not the cars fault, not the politicians fault. If the system fails, the blame is squarely on the shoulders of the ignorant masses who do not comprehend commerce, and are not operating the system properly. The national debt represents all the value owed to the people that the people did not claim back as the source of the credit. It is the value that has been robbed from us by the corporations who never paid the tax on it!
Think about it this way. In 1933 they abrogated the gold standard, so there is no more money, no substance in circulation. (Executive Order of the President April 5, 1933. Canada: Order in Council April 10, 1933) The government(s) are bankrupt, so in order for commerce to continue, they collaterized the bodies of the people via registration of live birth, thereby creating a credit account for each of us with the body as the surety. Ever since, because they're bankrupt and have no credit of their own to draw on, in order for the industrial society to bring that new Apex or Nytro to the showroom floor, build that house, create that widget, they had to borrow the credit of the people to do it! Therefore the sled/product is actually free to the public, pre-paid! You already have an interest in it and the number, or price attached to the item is the amount of the tax owing on it, and all tax is a return of interest to the principal! Is the source of the credit not the principal?
Kind of like eating in your own restaraunt, do you have to pay for the meal? We are all entitled, everyone of us, we are heir to the earth, not fictional entities! "You are a slave Neo, born into a prison that you cannot see, touch or taste."
I have been censured here for talking about this, but you guys are talking about it. The difference is that I'm trying to bring you the truth rather than spread the lie, not that you are aware that's what you are doing. I'm trying to help so we can all have better lives, and better sleds! "I'm trying to free your mind Neo." Bischof mentioned how things are affecting his company where he works and we should all be aware that foreclosures are a plague running rampant across the continent at this time and many of our brothers and sisters are not only without a sled to ride, they're homeless! It may not be happening to you, but I'll bet it's happening to someone you know. If it is, PM me, I can help you with that. If not, don't just put your head in the sand, get educated! Don't believe me, check out the following link. http://yannone.blogspot.com/2008/11/most-dangerous-video-on-internet.html Peace. G.
