Who makes the warmest bibs for trail riding?

I think that I am going to treat myself to some new bibs, as the old ones are getting a bit worn out.
So I'm looking for opionions on who has the warmest bibs for high(er) speed trail riding in the Nortwoods of WI. or the UP. where temps can be below zero, trails can be perfect to rutted, etc. so the bibs need to be warm, but still breath.
I'm guessing/ fearing that the answer will be Klim Klimates. Does ANYONE discount Klim?
So trail riders, what do you think?

i like my yamaha brand bibs, keep me warm in all sorts of temps in wisconsin anywhere.... thinkin about get carrharts tho hear they are nice
 
I agree with Yamidude59 my yamaha bibs/coat keep me warm on the coldes days i tell ya,wouldn't use any thing else...$.02
 
Which Yamaha bibs are we talking about? they make several different models.
I like the Bridger bib, that can also be un zipped to become a pant. Pretty sure that they can be had for $160.00.
I called Klim, and they suggested the Klimate bib for $300.00 but stated that I would still need to layer...same as any other bib. The best deal I found on Klim was free shipping.

no there not Bridger bibs i paid like $100 or so for em...just a standard bib
zipper down each leg...i love 'em,warm and dry.
 
Ive been happy with my FXR gear, very warm and windproof.Ive been known to ride with just my "skiveys" underneath on very cold days! :Moon:
The only problem I have with my pants, is that I bought the ones that dont zip down the legs.
Also Rich from Rich Motorsports can get you FXR and is a great guy to deal with. ;)!
 
I like using skiing gear.
Get some nice gortex pants or bibs and you can layer to meet the conditions.
The better pants have reinforced inner ankels, knees and seat. Pants usually come with suspenders.
The ski pants are usually lighter and easier to move around in.

I thought the bib was just to keep the food off my shirt!!



FXR stuff for me - I love em almost as much as roomin with Tom! :rofl:
 
I use a pair of black Cabela's Gore Tex bibs. They show up in the cabela's catalog under the sporting gear/ snowmobile section. I like them quite a bit. They are thin, warm, breathe, and they still look like new. While they were a christmas gift a couple years back, I don't believe they were more than 100 dollars.

I see they are a bit pricier than I thought. Maybe my GF did spend more than 200 on them. I mean they are gore tex, so that makes sense.
 
I am looking into the same thing- a warm set of bibs. Something for all day rides in very cold temperatures.

Most people will say the best bibs are the ones that they have. It's too bad there isn't something like a Consumer Reports to do tests on snowmobile stuff.

Klim is looking good, but with all the different materials and types of construction possible, how is anyone to know? The manufacturers will all claim that their type of construction is the best.
 
i think the old school leathers are secong to none.i have a pair i got probly 15 yrs ago that were sold by polaris but made my coldwave.never ,ever-have i been cold with those on!the weird thing though is its kinda like putting a custome on because there sorta stiff and thick.i was once bucked going down the river at about 60 mph , and that suit really softened the blow!!i think dennis kirk has something like it.
 
Klim does not make warm clothing. I think the klimate stuff is way overpriced for what it is. ^Can't go wrong with leather. Very warm, not so breathable or watertight. Also check into Choko gear. Its typically very warm an cheap too.
 
"Coldwave high altitude" period. it breaths it has vents that you can open when your hot and its warm on those -50f windchill nightrides and it's priced better than most. Spicers boat city has it on sale most times got my jacket and bibs for under $250.00. now i'm a custome for life
 
I've always used mid grade products with luck. I have had FXR, Reima, HJC, They've all been super warm in the -30/-40 Degrees C I have ridden in. I know have a yamaha suit, and it looks SUPER warm.
 
Too be honest with you i`ve had a few different brand bibs through the years and never been cold due to them. I find my hands or feet get cold before my legs ever think of it...lol. All i worry about anymore is that i have a pair of bibs that will not wet through so i stick with anything gore-tex.
 
I too have had and still have several different types and I much prefer more of a shell Gore-tex style pant. This way I can dress for the temps. I typically wear my gore-tex ski pants over my snowmobile designed pants.

Super Cold = UnderArmor (cold gear) or similar with a pair of fleece pants.
Typical day= just the Fleece pants underneath

Shell pants with layering provides the best mobility and warmth at the same time.

FYI- correct if I'm wrong, but I believe most of the Yamaha stuff is made by FXR.
 
The Highland's Christmas Flyer is on their counter. Just go there. You will find something nice at a good price.

I agree that the area protected by my bibs never gets cold. I have HJC medium quality and they are fine. I'd rather put my money into boots, gloves, and helmet.
