You know how much tuning and testing it takes to build a set of pipes? Yeah the srx pipes are GREAT, But only on the srx. I guess my wifes race logic ported 98 and my mrviper 780 can't make anymore power than when they were stock because they still have stock srx pipes. damn that sucks what a waste of money.lol
not the Stock SRX pipes are great. I didn't say a motor that was ported couldn't make power over stock, i don't see what you're getting at?

what i'am saying is that a viper cyl is like a mildly ported srx cyl so if mated to a set of srx pipes they should make a little more power than the srx cyl's . and by the way i do have an idea of how much testing and tuning goes into a set of pipes.
they make more power, at least on the grass. when i grass dragged my viper with srx pipes, the only sleds that i couldnt beet were a prostock 700 cat that run on race gas(he was way out front) and a ported 800 piped viper that was just in front of me(im sure he had alot more hp and not as good a setup)
there was a few other piped vipers and srxes there that was not even close. some of that im sure was setup.
also, the viper cylinder exaust port shape and angle of powervalve was supose to be an improvement on the srx cylinder design.
i think the pipes work great for racing because the muffler and pipes are wrapped so well that the stay hot and work as designed. for racing i use aset of manifolds that were cut 3/8 back to help the pipes effect the motor as if they were at full temp at teh start of the race, not the end.
valin, if your racing with it use the viper box, i was told it was 8deg more advance at 8600 and from swaping boxes, using temp guages, i believe it. use the srx box on the trail.

Greg is extremely knowledgeable. Jaws is an excellent place to go.

Iantomasi is also not far from you, in Bowmanville.
while your there, take a set of cut manifolds to bolt on there

can you put a price on valuable knowledge?? tell her that, and hide behind something when you tell her... might need the shielding it offers

I was just toying with the idea for a customers sled, and it's only going to be a trail setup. I will probably end up just leaving the stock pipes on it.

did you cut 3/4" off or 3/8" off like BETHEVIPER did? thanks.
i'm in the process of putting some srx pipes on my viper, so any tips etc are much appreciated. also, any dyno sheets of hp figures? my cylinders are ported too.

A 2004 Viper S with the same performance, reliability and gas/oil mileage of a 2001 SRX would simply be AWESOME!
read alot about this, no one seems to have any horsepower numbers, how about seat of pants ratings, was there a noticable differance over the stock single , any opinions or guesses if stock srx pipes would make even close to what aftermarkets pipes can

With srx pipes, box, and good head on a viper, is there any reason that you would not see the same or similar fuel milage as an srx?
It has more aggressive porting,,,, just cant compare the two with each other...... to many different factors ....... but with triples on a sxv will never equal an srx..... for gas mileage....

very interesting... This srx piped viper sounds very interesting....

IMO:
I don't have a Viper but have put together a couple of well running Bender Piped/Ported Red Heads, VMAX4s, 79 + 81 SRXs, VMAX 540s, Improved stock 650 INDY... ect and currently have an Aaen piped/ported 2002 SRX.
From looking at the Dyno results, porting specs, RPMs ect I think the best choice, when considering ease of installation, trailability, performance ect, would be a Viper with Bender Tripples, SRX CDI, and ported SRX jetting specs with the carb vent lines out of the airbox and hanging like a stock SRX. Performance + weight wise I think it would be one heck of a package!
Am I missing something here?
