help please

My understanding is this: Vipers mount in the whole closest to the rear of the skid and SRX's mount in the whole forwards of that. This is because the Viper rods are longer. I have been told you can take your SRX rods and mount them in the Viper skid using the forward whole and they work very well for transfering weight. When doing this put the front of your big shock in the the adjustment closest to the ground and this is supposed to work as good as adjustable rods. Also, this is supposed to help get your top end back as it makes the suspension a more "linear" set up which is more like the SRX. I was told this by a very knowledgable Yamaha race guy and will be doing this to mine this year.

It depends on the length of your control rod. SRX's mount in the front hole from 00-02. In 98-99 they had only the back hole to mount in but the rods where longer. When I long-travlled my SRX I lengthened my rods 10mm and mounted them in the same hole as stock. If you are using Viper control rods you would likely mount in the same hole as a stock viper. Compare the lenght of your Viper control rod to the SRX. The reason for the different hole locations on the SRX is for better weight transfer. The front hole provides the SRX with better weight transfer.

well why i want to know is because i mounted viper rods in rear hole ,but my back end of track is off ground big time so was wondering what you guys did that has put viper shocks and transfer rods in your srx ,i think it would be better in front hole so that the longer transfer rod will let the track down more , mine is a 2000 srx

I would put them in the first holes ....you dont want to pull on the rods when you put the bottom bolts back in.You know the ones that go inside the end of the rods,It will cause damage to the bars that pull on the big shock.

thats what i thought to was just courios where everybody else was mounting the end of the rod

thank dave

Did you long travel the front? The track on my old SRX 600 didn't sit flat after I long traveled it and that was just the way it was unless you did the front, too. You can pull up your limiter straps a bit, I guess.

my dealer instaled longer rods in my 2000 srx in stock hole (forward) locked supension up, bent relay rods (bars along rear shock), and other damage, be careful..
my bender rods i had them install were 1.5" longer than stock rods, distance from front hole to rear, messes with the geometrey of skid..

ok so both of you guys had them in front holes and did not work or what ,they just seem like pulling suspension up at rear thats all if this is normal or not

dave
dealer replaced relay rods and reinstaled in rear hole , they say it works.. we'll see . need to pick it up yet,

The thing is dave the rods are not meant to adjust the heigth of the sled. They are meant to limit the transfer with the top gap and stop Transfer if you will the other way so the front end does not take the full weight of the sled when off the gas or hitting the brakes. If you lifted the sled with viper shocks i say to lift the front of your sled before you even think about the rods because the lenth you need will change and you will be at it again. As somebody said the reason the back of the track is in the air is because you have not adjusted the front to leval the sled out.

sounds good wil wait untill front lift kit comes in and then will adjust limiter straps
