i have a 01 700 srx and it doesnt want to idle down when you let off the gas, it idles down to 3000 and than in about 5 seconds in will drop down to 1500, i also extended to a 136 with 8 tooth drivers and it revs to 8500 when your gettin on it, this seems alittle high to me, what do you guys think? Goodwin rebuilt the primary and secondary clutch in july and it seems great off the bottom but over-revvin alittle on the top end, They told me they would ajust it for me when there was snow but if its something easy i will attempt it myself, i know they changed both springs but i forgot the colors they put in and clutching is alittle confusing to me still

The hanging idle is due to a lean condition. You can open the fuel screws a 1/4 turn and see if fixes it.

edunn69 is right see where your screws are at count the turns from
lightly seated, stock is 1-1/8 try 1.5 or 1-7/8,may need to remove the rack
there a pain to get too on the sled.

on your srx, turn out fuel screws to 1-1/4, maybe even out to 1-3/8. anything over that is too rich and unecessary. no need to turn out to 1-1/2 or 1-7/8.

get fuel screw adjusters and be done with it.Well worth looking into.Won't have to take the carbs out everytime.Yamaha should have had them things installed on all carbs.
daman...if the temps get colder, that means your engine leans out more,is that correct.I have my fuel screws open 2 3/8 turns out.Using stock 42.5
pilots also.The 2001 SRX's had 40 pilots.

that's what i thought. i bought bender remote fuel adjusters, and they are the biggest waste of $70 ever. if they would work, they would be great. mine are a big flexible shaft, and when you turn the knob, they just spring right back, instead of staying at the adjustment you turned them to. i got sick of messing around w/them, trying to get them to adjust out, to drop my high idle and still nothing. finally i took them off and checked the fuel screws w/a screwdriver. pto 3 turns, center 2.5 turns, and mag side 2.25 turns. junk!!! it doesn't even work on all of them evenly. i'll sell them to you if you want them......lol.

nope, no lock. they work fine when they are off the carbs, but when you bolt them up, and bend them so the knob is at the top of the carbs, they don't want to turn. and yes, the flat screwdriver end to them, is properly in the slot on the fuel screw....lol.

hey mopar, sorry to hear your having trouble with those. i didnt. trick i used was marking zero with a sharpie, then turning the knobs slowly. you can kinda get a feel for them as the cables start to turn the screws. you cant adjust to fast. are the adjusters routed properly? too tight of bend will create a bind. i had the zip ties right at the base of the knurled knobs.

snowdad, i have them bolted up on top by the knob, w/the aluminum bracket that was supplied and on the cable shaft. the aluminum bracket, is bolted to the cap (covers the needle, slide, etc) of the carbs. i tried to turn them slowly and all sorts of things, but they just don't work. i have the bend as large as possible, to reduce the binding to a minimum. how did you have them routed on your sled? right now, i'm ready to flush these things down the toilet....they're f'en crap.

my adjusters turn very easily,no hassle there.daman,I don't understand why this is happening with the idle again.Last season's end no problem and actually last weekend running the sled a bit was not an issue. No that it is colder, seems to act up.I did all them pilot changes to larger sizes last year when the HC's were used.Carbs were totally cleaned with carb cleaner and compressed air, checked everything very good as I usually do.I went back to stock pilots(42.5) and sold the 45 pilots.I still have 47.5 pilots, but that might be to much..eh.My jetting is what the stock 2001 SRX's have.I do not have any kind of hesitation when I pin it.

I had good luck by building the ones that are described in the tech section. they bind but very little you do have to pay close attention cause the adjuster turns farther then the screw but not hard to get used to.

the more i think about it when i took the carbs off to clean i got so focused on the pilot jets i forgot to clean the main jets
