hey guys,

my 02 srx has been running very well up until 2 days ago. last time I fired it up, I would be going along and all of a sudden the rpms would just drop. and if i tried to accelaerate while it did this it would just bogg. I had to let it fall down below 2500 rpm before it would go again. but this problem kept occuring. So much so that i cannot drive it now. its frustrating. hopefully one of you guys can help me out. im pretty sure the TPS is gone. I tested the resistance and it didnt read up to spec.

merry christmas.

sounds more like a tors problem ...not sure a bad tps could cause those symtom

tps only controls mid range cursing timing and by only a few deg. i dought
it highly that's your problem. you would get a warning light if tps was
malfunctioning.

is anything else happening to the sled? lights, etc??

mid range cursing timing

This is what I have when I am half done with a honey do. LOL

You can by-pass your TORS for a test: On the right side of the engine near the # 3 carb, there are two wires to the TORS switch on the carb rack. One is black and the other is black with a yellow tracer. Simply un-plug these two wires from the carb switch and plug the two together from the electrical system side. This by-passes the carb switch and will tell you right away if the TORS is the problem.

so I by-passed my TORS and the problem went away. obviously the problem is somewhere in the TORS system. my TPS is good. It IS in spec. I spent a few hours trying to figure out why in the heck the TORS is activating!!. I tampered with the TPS by trying to adjust it. didnt go away. there are no indicator lights coming on whatsoever. im friggen stuck here. anybody have any idea??

Thanks.

for your tors problem make sure your throttle cable is not set to tight .....it happend often after u clean the carb u just set the cable to tight ...if its loose then the sensor tors is bad

I adjusted my throttle cable too tight on my 1998 500 V-Max and it did exactly the same thing. Like modsrx said. +1

hmmmmm...one more thing, the kill switch wasnt killing the machine when i pushed it down. tha t really threw me through a loop. i had to stop thinking after that lol

haha ya shes plugged in. i dunno.... u think there would b an indicator. i checked the sensor at the thumb throttle. i checked the sesor where the cable goes down onto the rack. both working. im stuck
