hey guys is it normal for the idle to stay up close to 3000 for about a minute after comin to a stop i watched the throttle and it is returning all the way but the idle takes awhile to come back down to 1800

jordan, what are your fuel screws at and are your carbs clean? how does your sled run on top end now? does it get over 7000rpm now? what pilots do you have in now?

fuelm scrws are at 1 1/8 it runs top end now but i still have 50 pilots i cant get any around here so i gotta wait and i have cleaned the carbs twice in the last month just to be sure

If carbs are clean check your engine idle is it 1600 +/- a 100 @ op temp?

if thats ok try another 1/4 to 1/2 out on the fuel screws..like said above.

i have done that multiple times but when it starts reving like that i flip the choke on and it will come back to idle so it like its lean but how can it be lean when im jetted so rich or r 50 pilots not rich enough for a gutted air box and cold air kit

I have 47.5 pilots if you want to trade even for your 50 pilots.Right now I have stock pilots installed..42.5 and I still have a little hang up.We are close to each other to send in the mail and be at each other doorstep in about 4 days.

I bought them last season/When I had HC's installed, really loaded the motor good and had to go higher on pilots.I had 50's but sold them to a guy in Sask. Hey maybe it was you!!!!!

wasnt me could be my sled tho haha i just got it this fall but thinkin back my issues with it revin like this started after i opened up the airbox to make up for the larger jets cuz the previous guy had cut holes in the airbox but plugged them so i pulled some plugs out to stop it from flooding on high end as well i jetted it down to 160 mains but my question is if its gettin more air at idle should i be backin out the fuel screw a little more of course that will affect my whole driving range but ill be down sizing my mains and pilots anyway

jordan, really the fuel screws have the biggest impact on carburetion on idle to 1/4 throttle. i would back those fuel screws out another 1/4-3/8 turn. your mains are 160 now? what is your max rpms?

my max rpm is about 8200 im down sizing the mains cuz its still too rich at wide open but for now all i got is 160's

wait... so its not normal to have the sled idle down to 3000 then after about 10-15 seconds of idling at 3000 it goes down to the 1800??

if its not normal then i think i might of found out slitghly why i blew my engine...

I got a 00 srx 700.... so its hanging because it too lean.. well then.. that explains some stuff.... blew the engine today...

but its been hanging at 3 on iddle down since i got it.. figured its normal.... guess i was wrong... ill have to change the jetting specs in the carbs then or play with the fuel screw.... darn..
