Idiots on Snowmobiles Kill Deer In Wisconsin
Check this out, I hope they catch these idiots, what a way to ruin it for the rest of law abiding snowmobilers....
I changed the thread title, didn't change on the lounge page, maybe the MODs can fix it for me.
TOWN OF LIND - A farm field in the town of Lind in Waupaca county turned into a killing field.
"It was obvious snowmobilers were running them down from behind," said Randal Yorkson, who farms the property along a snowmobile trail in Waupaca County, near County Highway EE. On Saturday morning, his son found several dead deer.
"One, after it was on the ground, looked like snowmobilers parked on top of it and just gunned the snowmobile and tore the stomach right open of the deer," Yorkson said.
The Department of Natural Resources is investigating the case.
"It appears to me they were going around and rounding them up and trying to push them toward the center to make it easier," said warden Ted Dremel.
"Many of them had broken legs, hair and what not was missing off the deer. You could see where snowmobile tracks drove right over the top of them," Dremel said.
The warden said three deer were dead in the field, a fourth was alive but had broken legs so he euthanized it. A fifth deer was found several hours later dead, tied to tree. Dremel said the deer was likely tied to the tree while it was still alive.
"We believe they dragged it from that field and tied it to this tree," Dremel said. "Absolutely needless."
The woman who owns the property is so upset about what happened that has temporarily shut down the snowmobile trail.
"I really couldn't believe that someone could be so malicious to animals," said Virginia Niemuth. "They were maliciously run over and dragged by the snowmobiles. They were skinned alive you might say."
Niemuth said she will re-open the trail, but only after the people responsible for this are captured. "They need a trail but when things like this happen you can't keep it open," Niemuth said.
The president of the County Line Trail Blazers snowmobile club is also angry about what happened. Stuart McIntyre said about five miles of a major trail are now closed. "Unfortunately it just takes a couple individuals to ruin it for everybody," McIntyre said.
Snowmobilers are not blaming the property owner, they blame whoever used the trail to slaughter five deer.
If you have any information about the incident you're urged to call the Department of Natural Resources at 1-800-TIP-WDNR. Callers can remain anonymous.
The County Line Trail Blazers and Waupaca County Snowmobile Association are both offering rewards in the case. Right now the reward totals $3,000.

I really hope someone steps up and turns these guys in. There is some heavy fines for whomever done. I beliebce they are looking at around 15,000 in fines at least and hopefully if caught snowmobiles will be conviscated (probably spelled that wrong) If you have any leads please turn them in. We are having a hard time keeping trails open and was others in that area get word of it they may follow suit and close more of them.

It was on the local news this morning also, really bad PUB for sledders. The lady who owns the land said she will re-open the trail if they catch the idiots, I hope someone turns them in.

I saw a fox on a trail that had been hit accidently I am sure. It was still alive, but in bad shape. I debated whether to hit it with my sled to finish it off, but by the time I got my sled turned around he was off the trail. What is the scoop on something like that?

I am a non violent person by nature but if I would have come accross someone doing this I would have gotten the heaviest hard wood tree limb I could find and beaten the living piss out of any and everyone involved! Even If I was out numbered I would have given it my all. I love animals more than people.<obviously not including my family>WHen I hear of bull shit like this it hurts my heart. When is the last time you heard in a head line animals gang up on snowmobilers and ruthlessly kill them. You didnt. Mean people really do suck and I hope karma takes care of bussiness!

Yeah, I saw this on the news last night. I say an eye for an eye. lets have these guys that did this get hit by sleds and mauled that way.
It really gives us sledders a bad name..... we don't need any of that, as we have to fight to keep our trail rights as it is.
As far as the wounded fox on the trail, I would say if it is past help, then put it out of it's misery. If it's not, you are in a tough place. As a wild animal, it would probably not be willing to allow a human to help it, although i would try as best I could.

I can not believe what I just read, what is wrong with these people. These guys need to be caught and punished, and need to be locked up! They sound like serial killers to me,that is how it starts with animal cruelty.

I was on a trail to pittsten farms here in maine and someone had hit a coyote and it was injured on the side of the trail. Noone would step up to the plate and this thing was bleeding from the mouth and panting very badly. I knew what had to be done. I got a hammer out of my fatherinlaws sled and walked over to it. One hit on th e head as hard as i could and it was all over. It didnt feel good but it had to be done. Luckily we saw a hunter up the trail and he was happy to go and get it.

You did the correct thing sir.
I know it is hard to do, but as soon as you think of the animal, you come to the same conclusion that you came to. It was very thoughtful to tell the hunter up the road of this coyote.
I am a hunter myself, but I respect the animals I hunt. I would say most hunters feel the same way.
