Last year I purchased a 1997 Vmax 700 for my friends/girlfriend to ride with me, but the sled came with triple pipes and apparently had some clutch work done to it. I went back to the stock pipe set up as it was way too loud , but the clutch engages around 4500 rpms. I do have a stock 2002 Viper spring/helix laying around, along with a Hauck helix and secondary spring for my 2002 Viper, that I am not using. Am I able to just swap out the Helix and spring from my Viper into the Vmax? Just trying to make it more trail friendly. :brr Thanks in advance,
Rick

Secondary spring & helix won,t do a thing for engagement.
you need the stock w-s-w stock yamaha primary spring.
you can,t use a tall cover primary spring in your short cover style clutch. You need the proper specific spring. nothing else will work.

Thanks for the info. I am understanding that it is the primary that controls the engagement rpms, and apparently the secondary does the backshifting. I will look for a stock spring.

if you were closer or in canada i have one but it costs more to ship then to buy a new one.
you can switch to a tall primary cover & use the newer long style springs for a lot more options.
