IQ skid in my SRX (install progress)

im sorry if this has been covered before, i did a search and didnt find the answer i needed. my question is i found an IQ skid online pretty cheap with very low miles on it and i want to put it in my SRX. the guy told me that it is narrower than the EDGE skid by 1/2" and from what ive read the edge skids are narrower than the yamaha skids also by 1/2" as far as the mounting locations measuring the inside of the tunnel, which would make the IQ skid 1" narrower than the yamaha skid. anyone have any experience putting an IQ skid in a yamaha? i know i would have to make spacers, but is 1/2" on both sides too much? are the mounting distances from the axle different between the edge and the iq? sorry for all the questions but i just want to make sure i get all this info right before i buy it. sorry again for the long post and thanks for any input :yrules:

I have a pro x skid in my warrior, same a sIQ, all I did was get 3/8 aluminum flats 4x7 and bolt them to the tunnel for front mount. The rears I used some off set dop brakets. I used the www.jbshocks.com pro x mount measurement, just dropped the front down 7/8 inch as it works better. Rides 100 times better than a no action. Maxdlx

thanks a ton for the reply! Im a toolmaker so making spacers will be no big deal. so i will assume the slide rails are the same distance apart on the IQ as my no-action? if so it looks like i will place my order tomarrow and kiss my no-action good bye! lol

ps. this site rocks!! :letitsnow

Don't mean to hyjack. But Maxdlx do you like your Prox better then your old big body ohlins on your no action. The reason I ask, have the big body ohlins on my proaction now. But picked up a Prox skid with ridefx shocks last year cheap. Haven't installed because not sure it will be a big enough difference.

It is night and day difference. You think the no action rides good with tthe big body ohlins, the prox with WE rides better. I'd love to get a set of ohlins for my prox, but maybe next year. I had hygear redo my WE and they left them in race set up, and I wouldn't change a thing about them. The transfer alone makes you giggle every time you ride. Maxdlx

update: my skid will be here friday! its out of an 07 IQ demo sled, comes with the fox zero pro shocks ready to go! thanks everyone for your help. another no-action bites the dust lol

my IQ skid arrived at my house today. i need to give a shout out to TracksUSA for the awsome service. they are a great place to deal with, well priced very helpful and very freindly. anyways im going to make this my install thread with pics and such. heres a few of the skid:

cant complain for $320 bucks shipped!

Why are IQ skids available for sale? Was this from a wrecked sled, or do Poo owners replace these with M10's or AD Boivin's? Maybe they long-tracked the sled....just curious. Seems like a good deal ! Good Luck !!!

the guy i talked to said they get parts from demo sleds. the sleds the manufacturers brings arund to snow shows and such. apperently polaris doesnt sell there demo sleds and they part them out. all the skids they had were from 2007 and newer.

Boy did I screw up... I just bought an Edge skid off ebay and am going to end up dropping twice that into it to bring it up to snuff... glad to hear you got a good deal on it, maybe I'll think of that next time I do a skid swap (which at this rate will be next winter, did a SC10 3 into the Viper last winter, Edge into the SRX this week)... :bash:

;)! Cant wait to see pics of the sled when its done

I had the same experience with a used M10. I bought it for $300, put an additional $325 into it to get it in shape. I put $235 just into the shocks (FOX) to get them rebuilt and repaired. The hyfax was another $40, and another $50 in misc. parts from FAST. I sold my Viper skid for $175, so my total cost ended at $450, which is still an OK deal overall.....

skid needed

Who did you purchase it from? My no action front arm broke into 4 pieces, lucky it didn't take out the track, but I had welded reinforcing brackets on so the arm wasn't able to drop down into track. I don't think buying a new arm is a smart thing to do, I should replace with something that works. Thanks.

i got the skid from www.tracksusa.com they were great to deal with.

well, yesterday i installed my IQ suspension in my SRX, the install went suprisingly smooth and everything fit great. i didnt take as many pics as i wanted to,, i didnt get a measurment or pics of the before height but here are the pics i did get. my only issue is the scissor arm stop blocks. without wieght on the sled it sits against the forward block, but when i sit on it, it compresses and sits against the back block. should it rest againt the back stop block with just my weight on the sled? youll see what i mean in the pics.

skid out

old and new. IQ 60 pounds, no-action 75 pounds

i made this template at work. it measures off the collar on the left side of the axle. the collar is bigger then the hex shape on the right side of the axle, so i made a shim to put on the right side to make up the differance. it was .135 difference (just over 1\8 th inch) i used the measurments froom jbshocks website for the pro-x mount and lowered the front mount 7/8" like suggested in an earlier post.

for spacers i made 4"x5"x1/2" plates for the fornt and fastened them to the tunnel with 1/4-20 button heads. for the back holes i used large washers to take up the space between the tunnel and the skid. the IQ skid is 1" narrower than the no-action.

and here it is all tightened up and sitting on the ground

now this is what i was refering to earlier about the scissor arm stop blocks: sitting on ground, no weight on sled
100_1673.jpg

now with my weight on sled
100_1676.jpg

is this how its supposed to be? seems to me this is similar to the transfer rods on the no-action. should this be 50/50 like the no-action or am i all wrong about this? if this is sitting wrong how can i fix it? there are only 2 different places that i found (besides the stop blocks) that i could possibly adjust it (pictured below)

im wondering how it can transfer any weight at all with is resting on the stops. any input?
