anybody have any input on how to set up this suspension?
Nice job on this install....so how does it handle? Do you have any plans for the front end?
I hope to be doing mine, but still waiting on the skid to arrive.

Any Poo websites like this one?? Maybe they can help/recommend solutions for your hybrid.

i posted on the fusion/IQ board over at HCS. well see what they say about it
where are your springs set. It shouldn't set against the rear stop, that is to adjust transfer. You may need heavier springs. Maxdlx

the springs are set on the highest setting. i only weigh 175 pounds. i do get about 4" of set in when i sit on the sled.
Ideally you want about 2-3" of sag and the arm halfway between the stops with your weight on the machine. How about when you step off the machine, does it return to full height? How much tension is on the front track shock? If the front track shock isn't carrying its share of the weight then the rear will sag and not return to full height as well as it should. Went through some of this with my IQ snocross skid.
Maybe you just have some really light springs? Otherwise something might not be installed quite right? You aren't going to have any transfer with it setting on the blocks like that.

I happened to look at the first pics of the skid by itself in this thread, and notice that the arm is sitting on the rear blocks then too. The skid is not fully extended in those pictures. I've only done one skid install so I'm no expert, but unless something was disconnected I think something might be wrong there.

when the skid isnt attached you can move that rear arm back and fourth by hand, thats just how it was sitting before the picture. when the suspension is suspended with no weight on it the scissor arm rests on the front limiter block. according to this link ( http://www.jbshocks.com/fusionswap.jpg ) my dimensions are a little off. wish i had found this before i did the swap

Measured 05 IQ Fusion
I found a 05 Fusion 600 that I measured. The distance from the centerline of the drive shaft to the first support was 5 7/8" (this driver was large diameter with flutes and could not be measure from "flats"). The first suppport was 5 7/8" from the top of the tunnel. The rear support was 6 1/8" from the top of the tunnel. The distance between mounts was 24 3/4". This is different that both drawings from JBShocks.
My donor sled guy tells me the shock mount distance is 25". I don't have the skid yet...slow shipper for sure. The rear mounts look like they can be matriculated on the shaft.
So are you having second thoughts on where you mounted your skid?
It seems like if you use the 8.5" offset from the flats and the 5 7/8" drop on the first support, the only thing left to define is the rear drop and center to center distance.
RTYsxv...what dimension did you end up with? Your rear mount was much lower Kozal 01...

i am second guessing myself a bit because every example of dimensions ive seen tend to all be different from each other. im just concerned about the weight transfer issue. sounds like less of a spring rate issue and more of a mounting location issue
maxdlx said:I have a pro x skid in my warrior, same a sIQ, all I did was get 3/8 aluminum flats 4x7 and bolt them to the tunnel for front mount. The rears I used some off set dop brakets. I used the www.jbshocks.com pro x mount measurement, just dropped the front down 7/8 inch as it works better. Rides 100 times better than a no action. Maxdlx
Why are you guys dropping the front down 7/8" from wht JBshocks show? Would this go for the edge skid as well? I am planning to install an edge skid in my viper and want to make sure I've got everything straight to make it an easy quick swap. How important is it to have the rear mounts identical to the JBschock dimensions (the distance from the top of the tunnel)? I plan to keep the distance the same between the front and rear to the orig edge specs. I notice from many pictures on here that the height of the rear mount varies by install.

Update:
well we finally got some snow here in muskegon. went for a nice 80 mile test ride yesterday and i am very pleased with the ride from the IQ suspension. it really feels like a totally different sled. my second thoughts sure went away after riding it. hitting bumps where i would normally have to stand up or brace for now i just glide over without any fuss at all. i recomend this upgrade to anyone!

well there really wasnt a good base at all so i couldnt test the transfer at all. it was slick yesterday. im hoping to get out again tomarrow and hopefuly by then there will be a better base down.
I don't understand the field photos...any picture I have of my sled, it is always in front of the other sleds.

well i hang back because if i lead, theyd never catch me, although in the back the parts falling off the acrtic scraps is a hazard for me lol
So now you have the perfect sled...speed and handling. How does the front end handle now that you have fixed the rear? Or is it never on the ground?
So does it put off buying a new sled? With 14" of rear suspension...
So next upgrade, you can make a scrap catcher!!

the handling is as sharp as it ever was. the rear doesnt sit up too much higher than stock so im going to leave the front alone for now. maybe an upgrade to ohlins in the front. it still carves in the corners like its on rails and is definatly a better/cheaper option than going with a new sled. im not in debt with this sled and its just as fast as most of the new stuff out there now with the proven 2 stroke yamaha reliability. what more can you ask for? lol
My skid finally arrived today...but it very poor shape. I don't know how people like this sleep at night.
This was supposed to be a 1000 mile take off in excellent condition.
The R/H rail assembly is bent so I took it off to attempt to straighten it. When I took in apart the front shock is siezed/blown and the top eyelet is broken. There is a transfer bracket that was bent...so upon closer look, it the weld is broken on two sides.
Of course the young man who sold me the parts does not return any phone calls....the ironic thing, was after I told him I would by his skid, I found another one for less money, but did not want to stiff the guy.
Maybe this is a summer project.
