LIFE MEMBER ONLY ONCE!!!
Well went for a run today with the SRX.She is running fine.Got 91 premium in her as always and the DCS stays off.Got 2001 jetting also. Not a DCS problem at all this season.Put on some 70 miles and getting 12 mpg on this mild day.
My clutching is as follows:
8DN-20's
4.5 inner rivet
5.4 outer rivet
brand new y-w-y primary spring
14.5 rollers(to lower engagement)
new Green secondary spring wrapped at 70
stock 47 Helix
Both clutches all new bushings,bottons,slides,washers..etc.
Sled is a beast at launch.Found a straight area on the river to do some testing today.Out on 70 miles total and SRX is running fine.At launch I pin it and rpm goes right to 8200 spot on and sled pulls like crazy.Front end jumps up and I have to hang on.Gets to 105 mph no problem and quick.I am watching the rpm's and she drops to about 8100 and that's where she be.I need it to climb to 8500,so should I switch secondary spring to Red or can I change primary spring to something else. What will going to a larger roller 15 or 15.6 roller do for me? I am going to probaby pull up limiter straps a bit to keep front end down more.My transfer rods are set for 50/50 transfer now. Any suggestions for now.I don't want to change outer rivets because I don't have anything to replace them.I could try green at 80 wrap and may pick up some rpms, but don't want to lose my launch rpm's at 8200.

Oh by the way,my cluches are running completely cool also, not slipping any amount.Like I said...sled jumps when I pin it and pulls really hard to,that part I really like.

Take the arms off and go find a paint scale [spelling]/? or go downtown and weigh your arms.Grind the outer rivot down to get them all the same weght!Grind check/install/try go back downtown and get a bag and you wont care anymore.

SRX700guy is right, go to a 4.5 rivit in the tip. Where did you get a 5.4 gram rivit? also , when you put in smaller rollers it lowers engagement & shiftout rpm.

If he goes from a 47 to a 40 degree helix he will really over rev. The finish angle (47) is a little high, ideally he should be running lager rollers and a 54-44 helix.

First of all to bluewho...who ever he is.I found a bag big enough to put you in and ship you to CHINA.That takes care of you...lol. daman..I am riding ,not wrenching that much. This is the first time I could actually find a spot where I could see what the X does since last season.I really don't care about the speed anyway since I am not racing anyone.Sled really pulls harder then ever before.I will probably go with the 15.6 rollers again, and as for grinding down outer rivet..that can be done and weighed. By the way the 5.4 I have is a 4.5 and 2 washers peened over in case you wandered. I don't want to try the 51/43 because it over-revs with it.Only other Helix I have is a 50/38 which would not be a good combo to use.
daman..you run the 51/43 and you said it over -revs.What have u done since??? I got the sled in the garage tonight, will re calibrate clutch and keep notes. bluewho..you are going downtown in a handbag...chinatown to be exact. Time for you to meet up with chop suey!!!!!LMAO

hey blue.....I did some clutching work this year and I am running a 4.5 and a .8 washer behind mine in both holes and I had to take a grinder to mine to get them perfect. Take the outer down tell you get it perfect. I wouldn't change any other variables though. Mine is spot on now. Think its you best option!!!!!!!!!!!
hey blue a easy thing..u can drill the outer river with a small bit drill...not to remove it just to take some weight out of it ..

mod... I was thinking about drilling a small hole thru the outer rivet with my drill press. We'll see what happens.I grinded some down all I could on the outers to drop 1.5 grams. Now instead of 5.4grams I should have 4.9 grams each rivet. That may be good for maybe 250 rpm increase. If not enough,I can still drill the rivet to lose more.I have done it before. Only other thing I did was installed the 15.5 rollers back in the clutch. It will increase engagement but increase shift out.I will see how it runs and go from there. It has to be closer.
I changed one of my rear 7.5 wheels because the rubber came off one.It was the 3rd one in,a little challenge ,but nothing I can't handle.Had an extra new one here as a spare.Glad I had the sled inside tonight,I also noticed I snapped a bolt on the cross member in front where the front shock attaches to on the bottom.I didn't want to remove a whole bunch of stuff,so got the bolt extractor which I never ever used before and got that broken thread out like nothing.Put a new bolt in and ready to go again.
Friday I will see what happens if I gained anything.I like the snap of the sled now, hope that won't change much.Need to get as close as possible to that 8500 rpm.

nice to know it works!!!!
went out for a bit on the river to test, its cloudy today so I can't see ahead of me what is bumpy,or sharp. It's better when the Sun is out.Hit a few small ice ridges..so had to let off throttle. It is 0 C. now and there is a lack of snow for the sliders and exhangers.Did a few hard runs and then stopped a bit...I noticed my temperature light was flashing on the dash. This has not happened to me before. I thought..HOLY CRAP!!!!!!.Shut motor off and started up again, checked the coolant level was good..so no leaks.Headed back home and light stayed off.Guess I can't do much hauling without over heating in these temps..what crap.Next week 2 above until Thursday where it drops a bit.Man I could use ice scratchers right about now.Have them on the 600.There is rain in the forcast which will really destroy the trails good.
Any way got my weight down in the weights by 1 gram each and will try and do a short run to see what happens.
Oh well, gone back out to put clutch back into sled.
