Hey all-

I am going to build myself a set of tubular trailing arms, however i am having a a hard time selecting what diameter of tubing to make them out of. I was wondering if anybody has some from northern lites or MPI of fabcraft, if they would be willing to post up the tubing diameter and thickness used.... I do not need the length's of them, unless you all feel like measuring that too.

I was thinking for the ones i was going to make i was planning on using DOM Steel Tube, 1.25" probably 3/16" wall for the head, and then make the main tubes out of whatever size will telescope inside the 1.25" tube. Running a threaded heim joint in the rear mount end.

Thanks for any help or input.

Are we going for the :bling: ???

Because if you use DOM tube you will probably be heavier than the stock trailing arms...

3/16 wall tube..is heavy for that size.( if they even make it that thick, that small ) I used to stock .120" wall DOM from 3/4 -1.75" tube..... I think I got my hernia from that stuff. Chromoly is the way to go... Stronger, so you can run thinner wall = much lighter... and does not rust as bad...

I bought a set of bent ones and fixed them. I'm pretty sure they are MPI and the tubing was 1.125 x .090. I fixed them by splicing 1.25x.065 over the top. They are 4130.

Kind of hard to see the splice in this view. Jason

The bling will be expensive if you use 3/16. The first time you hit something hard engough that the trailing was supposed to bend you will have a bent up tunnel. Other words don't make them any stiffer then the stock ones.
