srx vs F7

I agree. very clean! What do you use on the cylinders? hand cleaner? What about the pipes and belt guard? It looks like you need sunglasses to open the cab!

I've been telling my brother that we have to get an SRX 700 preferbly 2000 and up for snow drags as we have them just about every weekend here Manitoba, these are bush races sorta speak no teching involved. I have been telling all my buddies that If I can get my hands on an SRX 700 they all better watch out from all the setups that I have read up on here, and now all you guys are telling me that I'll stiil only end up 2nd. Please tell me the truth, can the SRX 700 be setup to win in 660ft drags with just clutching, gearing and tuning

I HAVE SEEN HP # s ON STOCK '' RACE PREPED F-7,s '' STILL WITH SINGLE PIPE AS HIGH AS 158. NOW THIS WAS 500 F.T. ECU, PIPE MOD, TIMING KEY, BOONDOCKER, etc. now friend of mine just did up his f-7 into a f-8. same as above with more and d & d monster twins. DYNOED IT AT 188. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I have an 01 SRX that has been clutched ,jetted, geared,192 trail studs on ice, 660ft. I ran the stock and then improved and never came close to getting beat by an F-7 in either class. I also ran some F-8 in the 800 stock class with the same results. It appeared that I was hooking up and they were not.....for some reason!

thanks for keeping my hopes alive guys

Cam/ Viper addict For the races around here there is alot of them on hardcoresledder in the Manitoba forum. I think there is races in Pegius reserve north of Winnipeg on Saturday.

at some back yard races like you mention & some kids that dont know what there doing with there f-7's,yes you can beat them.very possible.but in a scationed event & you meet up with some d&d preped sleds, like the scotty boys or danielle menelly just to name a few.then your not going to beat them with any yamaha triple in 500' on grass or 660' on the ice unless they start making them add more wieght..now this is coming from real world experience here from racing a very competitve sled in pro races..we were making more power but the wieght advantage they had killed us..i saw a best of 5.298.with my viper & they were running consitant 5.1's & sometimes faster.

thanks srxbully yeah I'm looking for one that I can just clutch, gear, and tune to the nuts with yamaha parts and some aftermarket clutch parts and be very competitve in the snow drags and Ice drags around here, I would like to try some sancitioned races next year, but first I have to buy one lol.

the Firecats chassis is just to efficient, the angle of the track coming off the drivers is pretty much perfect..Cat did there homework on this chassis(although it didn't hold up to abuse) and Dropped a potent engine into it.I've beaten a few F7's but the well turned Firecats would get me everytime...you will have your hands full beating a F7 that has been setup by a knowledgeable tuner with any year SRX as far as im concerned, unless its a 05/06 Diamond Drive model..some of those were just slugs!!!

ACTUALLY THE THE O5/06 DIAMOND DRIVE FIRECATS HAD MORE HP THAN THE 03-04. CAT UPED HP ON THEM TO OFFSET DIAMOND DRIVE. A 05/06 ECU WORKS VERY GOOD ON A 03/04 FIRECAT. EVERY SO OFTEN , A SLED COMPANY HITS IT RIGHT ON THE HEAD WITH A SLED FOR RACING. F-7 IS ONE OF THEM. 3:16 (yammie tony)

im trying to build a srx improver, am i wasting my time??? i now you can squeeze more power out of the triple.

are you going to b running pro sanctioned events?what are you building it for?grass ice.speed runs?how far?

im going for local events and a few pro, ice and maybe grass, its a first time build for me so im new to it all, except for stock, raced the srx i have for a few snow drags, bad move; sucks in the snow once the track gets chewed up (track setup 3/4" w/192), know i do have a 04 F6(trail) which is stock except for clutching, can usually outrun most STOCK F7s, but get the srx on the lake w/ the right conditions (hard, hard, hard pack and flat) and say godnight to any F7 no matter what distance, my clutch setup is second to none on the srx but only for the right conditions, thats why id sooner set her up for ice, show them firecats whos boss. oh ya,FYI, the F6 is going to be traded for a 10' Nytro, may not be as fast but in 5 years she still run like a top.lol

I just want to be clear that u guys are saying the f7 properly tuned and what not is quicker than the srx in 500 or 660 ft?? Not 1000' or 2000' or any distance greater than that. because no f7 I have ever raced can hang mid range or top end with me. but I am not an expert.

they needed the extra 5hp because the Diamond Drive is not nearly as efficient as a chain driven sled. In the end i think the SRX's Days of dominating the Stock classes ended when Cat Released the F7...both sleds will probley go down as 2 of the best sleds in history.

you should tell that to my buddy with a 03 F7...it will pull 121mph with just clutching and gearing ....if thats not fast im not sure what is.
he must have geared that kitty preety damn high.and was it on radar or his dream meter?

BULLY 100% CORRECT. THE F-7 IS QUICKER THAN A SRX, BUT I DON,T BELIEVE FASTER EITHER. THE WORD QUICKER MEANS E.T. , THE WORD FASTER MEANS MPH. 3:16 (yammie tony)
