srx vs F7

Yammiegod that is a impressive collection you have there and them firecats are a pain in the butt very quick stock and in the right hands hard act to follow but if you love your yamaha time and money you can still put those things in their place short runs are a issue them things are skateboards with a motor thank god they will soon all be broke for parts rest in pieces firecats my srx will live on

5 700 WILDCATS
6. 03-04 700 FIRECATS
7. 97 MACH Z 800
8 86 INDY 600
9. PROBLEY THESE NEW XP 800. etc. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Well I just got back from riding my 02 SRX for the first time and all I can say is after 70 its gona take more than a tuned efi F7 to hang with me after 70. In 660' I have no doubt that I would struggle. On the big UP of Michigan straightaways though I will crush any 700 twin...

I have been running 2000 ft radar runs for the past 2 seasons.. We run a stock 2000 SRX 700... Top speed for us in trail stock set up is 119.5 MPH.. We we have won more then our share of events but have been beaten once in this class and it was by an F-7.. Was it stock?? If it was, it was not only quick it was fast... I don't believe a well set SRX will beat a well set F-7 500ft drag sled.. If we could you would still see alot of SRX's running in the larger events, cats have our # in this class on the grass.. I bleed blue but drag racing in the 700 stock class is going to be a major uphill climb for you... Good Luck anyways if you decide to go for it..

I have to agree here!
I banged heads against or owned all of these,
For "stock" racing, Artic definately got that F7 right. The SRX's weight alone is always going to put it at a large disadvantage when we are talking equal tuning/setups "WITHIN" the rules.
Had Yamaha built these, they would all still be running and holding together and with the "Tuning Forks" on the hood a lot of us would own one!!!

Bully it was on GPS..and the Firecats speedo is usaually only off a couple of MPH...Now my SRX..that has a Dream Meter..lol
Firecats are usually within 1 mph. How far off are SRX's? Im guessing 5-7 mph fast??

You mean my stock 01 SRX really doesn't hit 123 Mph :(
Dammit, lol. A friend of my brothers was making fun of me when I started blabbing about how fast this thing is.

It sure does feel like 123.

I think I had it going roughly 112 Mph, but thats tops for mine. Takes a while to get out of the hole, but once it does can't see it for snow dust.

Dan, you took the words right out of my mouth...those F7 are quick....now I have seen some this past weekend that only did 109MPH in 2000ft.
In my 700 improved class there is an F7 that does about 122mph in 2000ft.
They can be made to go fast if the tuner knows his stuff....but I have no problem beating a stocker F7 with my SXR700 which ran a 116mph this weekend in 2000ft.

The sled your talking about is a stock engined 2003 f_7 with exhaust and intake work.. Not sure what else he has in it but it ran 124.6 on one run.. Hard to believe a sled with trail track a trail studs with around 150 to 155 hp could pull off a # like that but Jeff has that sled rolling pretty good...

If you are running back yard stuff it is anybodys game, the potential is there for an srx. You start running the pro stuff, forget it. I have had 3 srx's and 2 firecats, firecats are quick and fast. I never owned a diamond drive one only chain. They are geared stock for 110.9'ish and I ran 110.5 bone stock in a good state of tune. This was an 04 9 tooth driver F7. Stock for stock its anyones game and the firecat has the mid-teens in the real world with only clutching and gearing very easily, so does the srx but with more work..I ran an F7 on the grass last year and it was so easy to make it fast in 500', I also ran another firecat on the trail and it was very simple to make it fast I put a 900 with nos in it!!LOL! Both sleds are alot of fun for sure but myself, I feel the call of the tuning fork again..
