THe freeplay on my secondary is about 3mm the service manual I have says .5mm-1mm. Question is do I just add another shim behind the bolt or could it be something else. Second question is do I just remove bolt and is anything going to come off. I have never pulled one before. Thanks Jason

you'll need a washer/shim that is big enought(I.D) to slide over the alum bolt collar in the secondary.

Yes I saw the different thickness shims in the manual. That is what i will get. What exactly makes for more freeplay? Does the bolt stretch or does something wear out?
I run about a 1/4 inch of freeplay in my secondary's...... Whats the problem? You would rather have too much freeplay than not enough!!

no problems at least yet. I am just anal about keeping everything within spec cars, trucks, and now the snowmobile. I just don't want to hurt something down the road. What does more freeplay do for you?

I have alot of freeplay in mine as well. I would say almost a 1/4 inch and have had 1,000 trouble free miles like that. When i did secondary swap the collar I used was not turned down as much as I wanted and some tuners I know said it actually is better to have a little extra freeplay. I put a 96 XT secondary on my old 94 Vmax 600.
