Questions

Can the twin exhaust can be modified like the 700 triple can?

What is better v-force reeds, boyensen reeds, or oem reeds

Is there anyone out there that does big bore kits for a twin engine other than Hauck powersports? And who

Is it better to ceramic coat the exhaust or use hearder wrap?

Whats the best chaincase oil to use? I was thinking of trying amsoil in this sled.

Not much to report the hood is at the body shop and the motor is ready to be refreshed and install. Been working on the Mtn Max getting ready for the grass drags that our club is putting on Oct.10 also having a vintage show and snowmobile swap meet. Local interest is very high and hopefully we have a good crowd. I have some fine clutch tuning to do on the Mtn. Max then it will be ready to go also been rebuilding snowmobile trailer sandblasting, painting, new deck and rewired lights so it ready to go. I will be getting back to my SSX project after the 10th.

My hood vents

Here are the vent screens and hood hinges I had Half-baked powdercoaters do for me for my project. Color is extreme chrome, should look great next to the yamaha heat red hood. Hopefully hood will be done this week and I am currently working on the motor.

Engine

I got the engine put together today and installed in the sled. I also picked up a very nice dash at the swap meet in Jefferson WI for $5 cleaned it up and swaped the orginal out with the new one. I am still waiting for my hood to be painted can't wait to get it back and finish up this project. I got my studs and will start putting them in soon. 168 of them. I also installed my proaction decals on the trailing arms. :2strokes:

:letitsnow Sorry at this time my checkbook is a little on the low side so I opted to just used the parts and pieces I had to put a motor together. I had a good crank and a set of very nice cylinder put in new pistons and did the head gasket trick also going to do the mod to the reed valve cage and run the sled this winter. I did talk to Pat at Hauck powersports about the big bore kit for the twin its $1200 so I am going to save up and get it later this winter or next summer. I would of done it but things are slowing down at my job and we are all getting laid off on Dec.19 for 6 to 8 weeks and unemployment doesn't pay worth a shit here in Wisconsin. But the bright side is I will have plenty of time to ride during lay-off if we get SNOW around here. :letitsnow

Slow progress but getting close

Here is a pic of the exhaust I wrapped it with header wrap and I have to use my MBRP exhaust can because the outlet in the belly pan is a little different on the SRX pans versus the SX pans so stock muffler not an option unless I relocate the opening a little bit maybe do that at a later date. I also had to repaint the emblem on the cylinder head.

:letitsnow Thanks Guys and I would hope it will be better than new. I think no I know that I have touched every nut, bolt, washer and rivet on this sled. She should look great cruising down the trail or radar running across an open lake. I'll keep you posted on progress hopefully I can get a little more done this weekend. Last weekend I had the honey doo list to take care of and get my outside chores done before SNOW flies.
