since it is warmer out and the snow is more heavy,I have lost about 400 rpm wot.have red spring at 80 with stock SRX helix(47).Primary is loaded with 4.5 in each hole with y-w-y..all stock setup.Should I increase the wrap to 90 with red or try green at 80.Was hitting 110mph today at only 8000-8100 rpm at wot.Though I could smell belt burning when I punch it from start.Perhaps it is slipping in secondary.Belt is within specs yet at 33.50 mm.Today the temp was about 34 F. New belt is 34.50,wear limit is 32.50.I am in between.I have 3 new belts sitting here, but not going to use them this season.

blue , keep your clutches the same from -50 to + 50 and jet down in this perticular instance to regain your rpm , IMO , secondary clutching is just a band aid and will result in spending $$$$$$ for more belts .

@ THIS TIME OF YEAR ITS COLD IN THE MORNINGS AND WARM IN THE AFTERNOONS WITH THE RELATIVE HUMIDITY INCREASING DURING THE DAY , RELATIVELY DECREASING AIR DENSITY , SO IF YOUR OUT IN THE MORNING AND DROP RPM IN THE AFTERNOON , ALL YOU NEED IS A PHILIPPS SCREW DRIVER AND A 10MM WRENCH , AND REMOVE THE CENTER SHELF IN YOUR AIR BOX OR AND THE HORNS BUNGE CORD THEM ON YOUR CHEST SO EVERY ONE CAN SEE ...LOL...AND YOU WILL REGAIN SOME RPMS .

vince, with just a day or two left for riding,I won't bother jetting down.Better then richer then leaner. But when one rides in stickier snow, one has to increase the secondary wrap or spring rate in order not to slip the belt as much.More resistance on the track and drive system with this snow condition.

or you could try shallower helix on the warmer days w/slushy snow and/or drop out the inner 4.5g rivet for a 3.6g one. giving it such high amounts of wrap is too much of a band aid. it hurts top end.

losing weight in the tip would make the biggest difference in gaining back top rpms, but also removing weight from the inner location would help gain top rpms back to, as the total mass of the flyweight plays a role in maxx rpms too.....not just location. if you drop back down to a 3.6g rivet in the inner hole from 4.5g, and had a 4.5g rivet in the tip (if you don't have that in there now), it would then be back to stock and able to pull rpms on top, w/the wetter snow.

monster, you could leave the heavier weight setup in it, and just throw in that rx-1 helix on it, for those wet snow days too.

hey mopar.I am ahead of you.Last night I put the 51/43 helix back on,while leaving primary alone.Man this setup really rocks I'll tell ya.The 51/43 put me spot on with the warmer temps. And the snap I have at launch is perfect. It got up to +8 C. (44 F.) here today, and the SRX just performed super..got to tell ya.Launchs at about 8200ish and climbs to 8500 dead nuts.I got up to 111 mph today and that was it.I have another extra clutch I could of set up differently with extra 8Dn-20's,but am short of rivets. The 51/43 rocks in this warmer days and conditions.I am quite pleased to say the least.Got 102 miles on her today,it was a great day,but all good things come to an end with spring around the corner. ;)!

now thinking about next season already.Want to get the motor re-built and do some porting also. THAT MEANS>>>have to re-clutch all over again :o| .
I could try my Heelclickers, but for some reason I don't think they are going to give me top end I am looking for. They would be good for racing,I could always set them up in my spare clutch.Probably would like to try 8bu's next season also.TEST,TEST and more TESTING..it never ends ;)! Oh well it is fun doing it anyways..wrenching that is.loll :2strokes:

hey monster, try a set of heavy hitters, they really work well for top speeds and you dont have to mess with rivets, make sure you get the 53 gram set not the 48s if u try em
i love reading your posts, your just as deranged as me with speed (maybe more so) lol

I don't know what is is..it is in the blood I guess. Blue Blooded.Obsessed is a better word to use. What can I say,it gives me something to do all winter. :o|
