sled 02 srx 6100 miles
clutching- h/c red primary,4.3 in the tip ,bolt and 4 washers heel
green secondary spring 52/44 helix

In setting up my clutching ,running against another srx for comparison we noticed after doing a few good runs my sled would start to fall off on the top end.At first it would pull some lengths on the other srx and hold the distance for the duration.after a few runs it's like it would hit a wall ,you can actually feel the sled stop pulling(at over 100 on speedo).and the other srx would keep on pulling right by.The other srx riding said to him it felt like the dcs was activating (but there no light) like i say at first it would continue to pull til we ran out of room ,but after a few runs ,it would hit the wall.Has anyone else experienced this problem????

....Suspect so far is maybe the two (cap and sheave ) clutch bushings as they have never been changes and there is some play.

Any other ideas?

The 8dn belt is getting hot. It then gets softer; grips harder & lower rpm,s.

Turk,we have to find out how his rpm's are doing from launch to finish. He may also need re-adjust his weight in the HC's and how is that helix for him.

sorry i forgot to post the rpm,(other thread on h/c tuning has it......initially running from a standing start to 8300 -8400 and holding all the way (never stopped pulling and ran out of room) Thats when it ran good!

After a few runs it would go to 8500 then drop to 8000-8100 and creep back to 8100 and hit the wall ......

The other srx was running stock clutching,he didn't have issues similar to mine,so wll this h/c, helix ,spring combo heat the belt more than a stock setup?

Aggressive clutching allways does this. With hc,s it helps a lot to tighten the secondary as those weights will overpower the driven set up. i like to really run a lot of secondary tension if your making a lot of back to back runs.

10-4 turk ,i may try that if i can get back up there this week....i 'm really gonna try to grass drag it this year so i want to fool with it a bit now to really get a feel for how it responds to changes Thanks kevin(but man it does haul the mail initially!!!)

Damon its not the rings causing the rpm to. Drop anyone that races and uses that beldt knows it slows down that's why you have to have to have 2 belfts so you can swap them between heat, semis, and finals.Turk is 100% right!

seriously ,i thought about that ,not as my problem ,but as a preventative maintenance ,keeping it at peek thing

similar issue here ......... worst in warm days
glad to hear it! lol no i'm not ,but it really made me wonder as it really works well at first but when it falls off it sucks!

The whole purpose of dragging my buddies srx was to gauge the clutching i've done as he has a similar setup going in.

we are dragging about 1500 feet(est) and i seem to get better hook up (don't know why i've only got 96 studs to his 144 and are transfer rods are set the same (he has a viper skid maybe that hurts him???)),but he said even the one time he came out of the hole good i pulled him 5-6 lengths and we stayed the same (i stated before it was 4 lengths) and as it was after multiple runs although he never passed me he was running me down hard and on a lake he would of blew by me

yep, seen the same going on here too in warm weather, heavier snow and aggressive clutching.....first 3 passes fine w/rpms, then the next couple w/be 200rpms lower and will stay like that, until belt is allowed to cool down.

mod!!!! your alive..was worried about ya..lollllll

no i'm alive but no more snow here to tune lolllll :o|

not sure if another kind of belt could help for the heat problem with heel clicker .... :dunno:

went its cold and hard on the ground it rocks then it meuhhhhhhh in warm days after 2 or 3 pass ....clutch are getting warmer i know it is because of that but i'm not sure how to cure the problem...maybe going back with less aggressive set up will be the only way... :rulez:

add some twist as turk said (as it gets warmer)or swap belts back and forth
