2001 Srx Needs Help

I'm in the process trying to figure my sled out I think I hurt it on my last snowmobile trip up in northern wisconsin it runs on 3 cylinders win it ideals but once you hit the gas it has no power at all I can barley get it on the trailer. (ive changed the plugs and the compression is not that good). Sounds like its hits on 2 Cylinders, Who is really good on working on these fast machines and if its hurt I might as well make it even faster can anybody lead me to someone good and close.

Does it sound like a rev limiter is kicking in @ low rpm's?????????

You know anybody thats really good working on them and modifying them that is close by.

I dont think so it sounds fine when it idles. just sounds like crap when you give it some gas.

The compression gage I have is really old so I dont know if its accurate. (#1 90 #2 85 #3 80)

sounds like the TORS is kicking in when you give it gas.......... find the two wires comming from the carb bank and unplug from the harness and plug them into themselves and try again. If this does fix you problem then you just may need to adjust your throttle free play.

Try bypassing the tors first.
I had 6 dead plugs out of a brand new box of ten last winter.
Very frustrating! Just a thought. br9ecs plugs right?
I would do a compression test with a good gauge too. Borrow one from a parts store.
Pull your carbs and check your reeds.
Check your throttle free play. Did you put a riser on it by chance?
Pull your pvs also and check em.
Then pull your heads off. Just for peice of mind I would do this for sure.
Easy to do and there is a ton of help here.
Just go slow and tag/bag everthing ,its easy.

My 93 Exciter II SX had TORS.......I'm certain it goes back farther than that as well.

Stuff to look at:

Pull the starter rope real slow to feel the compression in all three cyclinders. If one feels weak it wil roll by easier than the others. If all three feel equal, likely not a mechanical issue.
Could be a plug...let it run to warm up a little, shut it off and see if all three plugs and heads feel equally warm. This will indicate if one is not firing.
Check the black wire connectors to each of the coils...look at the bullet connectors very closely. They can look o.k. and be plugged together but, still not work. This is from experience with mine.
The sled does have TORS and can be bypassed as already desribed. From your description, doesn't sound like the problem.
Could be a carb problem too. A plugged jet of crap in the needle.
If you don't get it solved by fall, let me know. You are not too far from me.

Make sure the carb slides are returning properly. I had a piece of foam from the air box jam a slide open and tors would kick in every time I got above idle.
