Does anyone have a way or procedure on how to get rid of Skunks? I have a female Skunk that burrowed under my front steps. It made 2 holes already ther.Ihad the window open next to where I have my Computer and I heard some rustling of leaves under the window.I looked out and there she was digging around for food.A big mother of a Skunk. So yesturday I thru some rags soak in oil down both holes and poured a litre of oil down also to smoke her out.Had my pellet gun ready to shoot it..but nothing happened. So I assumed she was out and I plugged the 2 holes up with rocks pretty good. This morning she burroweed another hole closer to the basement wall and steps..so she is still there.Anyone got remedies..bleach,mothballs,oil.I read that if you shine a bright light down the hole for a while that they may move on.They are night creatures and like dark. Also others have put a radio there and blasted music loud for days.Need to get rid of her ,babies are usually born mid-may and usually a liter of up to 6 skunks are possible. All I can do is keep plugging the holes good. Was think of getting some spray insulation foam and filling the holes or some ready-mix concrete and just fill the holes.HELP!!!!

Well ain't the internet great.Found plans to build a critter trap. Maybe some of you will want to make a trap yourself if you have critters.
Very simple trap uses a mouse trap as the trigger.

Thing is,I don't want the tail getting caught under the door..so i think it is best to make the trap longer..like 36".Seen other metal cylinder like traps that are longer.I should have the trap up and running tonight for the catch in the morning. Will take pics of the rodent in it.Will use plexi-glass squares for windows so I can see it.Then I will release it a few miles away.

I wouldn't worry about the windows.
You'll know when you get her.lol.
I wouldn't shoot it with a pellet gun either, you will only piss it off and trigger several sprays.
If you are going to shoot it, use a real gun, then you know its done and it will only spray once.

the only real gun i have is a 303 given to me from my Uncle.Never fired it yet.I think it would make a big noise and may have the cops paying me a visit.I think I will electricute it.Get some extension cord, fray the ends and lay it firstly on a metal plate on the floor of the trap.Spray it with water and plug the line in..should work.

on second thought that is cruelety to animals.Maybe I won't do that. How about putting it on the tailgate of my truck and push the trap and the skunk onto the highway at high speed. Then some idiot will drive over it for good measure.

MAYBE I'll trap it and then call Pest Control from our Municipality to pick up and depose of....Will it eat it's way out of the box in a day or 2. :o|

Why don't you just let it have it's family.. I'm SURE if you leave them alone,, they will leave YOU ALONE????

After you have trapped it in the box walk into your front yard a drown the poor little kitty or second thot put it in the car thats in the ditch ;)!

I had a load of BUNNIES that the mother dug a hole in my back yard and deposited FIVE bunnies.. I would pick up the dead grass and hair covering that she would put over the hole and talk to them everyday and see how they are doing.. The mother used to come by at 10:30PM and nurse them EVERY NIGHT!!! I saw her a few times!!!! I even spent 90.00 for a PUSH MOWER so I didn't suck them up with the regular lawn mower... They would up JUMPING into the garden and MOWED DOWN the stringbean plant and REALLY ENJOYED eating the leaves of the BRUSSEL SPROUTS.. They STAYED IN THE GARDEN for about 4 or 5 days after they left the hole and PIGGED OUT on all the veggies!!! Haven't seen them since!!!

Hey Stein..I spent most of the day making that damn trap. Finally got it working to perfection. The bait I am using is Tuna. That mousetrap sure is a good mechanism to release the cotter pins on the door to make it slide shut.
Here are some pics of the critters entrance and my TRAP. More pics top come after I catch the critter..face shot thru the plexiglass window I installed.Needed to have a removable window up front in order to get my hands thru to tie up the bait.

This is better than watching paint dry...jjking...lol... Whats the release procedure after you catch it/ them??? Neighbors yard...lol... Then you can sell them your trap and make a couple of bucks for your time...lol...

If that doesn't work, just stick a garden hose down there, and turn the water on, worked for me years ago when I had them under my garage.
