About the skunks, the trap has to be open so they can see through, and small enough that they can't raise their tails. Throw a blanket over the trap once the skunk is caught and then route the exhaust of a poor running vehicle into the trap. It is the most humane method we could come up with. I was once in an area that had a huge skunk infestation problem. It took about 5 years, and over 100 skunks but we finally got them under control. In that state it was open season on them year round.
For those that shoot them, almost everyone that I have seen shot has sprayed.
Note: Do not dissect one of the specimens and attempt to send the "perfume" to another country where they do not have them so people can get a smell of it. It won't make it all the way no matter how well you seal it. Plus you will vomit, and be avoided by other people for many days . . . Or so I've heard.

that is what I have been told to do ding when I catch the skunk.Cover the trap and run exhaust from me truck to it.It will simply go to sleep and not feel anything.

I am working on it.Apparently the Skunk took the bait in my trap,I didn't realize that it actually crawled into the trap. The mouse trap mechanism jambed and didn't release when the Skunk tugged on the bait. Now that I know it likes raw bacon,I am going out to get some fresh new mouse traps to use as my trigger for the trap.I'll get that little STINKER yet.Pics will follow for sure.

Done Deal
Well as of 8:40 pm the trap was activated. My wife heard scratching thru the bedroom window.Went out and the trap is shut closed.Amazing it isn't putting up a fight at all.It seemed to have calmed down, even with my dog sensing something and barking like crazy. The new mouse trap trigger worked.
I am in the process of putting it to sleep the most humane way possible like Ding had mentioned.Covered up the Den entrance and will see if it is dug up again tomorrow.Which means there are more Skunks.I was a little hesitant to go ahead with the procedure, but remember these Skunks are carriers of rabies.I will take a pic of it once it has fallen to sleep.

Well here is some pics for ya.Cam..you can stop drinking your beers now.It was the mother because of the tits on it's underside.
Will see if in the morning the entrance way is re-dug,if not..I think I got her and can dig out around the steps and place chicken wire all around about 1 foot down and 1 foot out and bury with dirt.

So Far So Good.
I checked the den this morning and so far so good. There is no entrance hole dug under the steps.I think I have solved the Skunk issue for now.Now I can begin to Skunk proof the front steps from future live ins.

Had an idea.I will paint the traps Yamaha Blue with Yamaha Logo's on each side .I will fit the box with 2 ski's up front and a windshield to.You can order it with more power to.Instead of a single (mouse trap) trigger,it could be set up with a Triple Mouse Trap Triggering system. It will actually catwalk when traps go off...would look cool.

Thats a great idea, building them and selling them. I think the modded model will sell well for those rats that they have across the border. Sounds like you need the deluxe model for those things...lol... Maybe yamaha will sponser you...lol...
