Best/worst exhaust cans/pipes for the SRX???

I GOT A LINE ON A HAUCK RIGHT NOW, IF I CAN GRAB IT RIGHT I MIGHT JUST FOR ALITTLE BARKING ONCE IN A WHILE. IF I WANT TO RACE THOUGH, STOCK MUFFLER STAYING ON. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I agree that for all out HP and Top End... STAY WITH THE STOCK EXHAUST
I had a Bender can on my 2002 SRX that I found to be durable, a little loud, definately did not improve on Top End... but it was about 8lbs lighter.
Right now I have a set of Aaen tripples on my 2002, they have a great sound but are not too loud. The main reason I run the Aaens is weight savings, they are close to 20lbs lighter then stock! They do not appear to be any faster but are not noticeably any slower.
I have the Aaens in for ceramicoating right now and am going to try running them at a little higher RPM this year with cylinder and case porting.

More bark? Trust me when Yamaha designed that sled, it was a pretty gutsy move putting SRX on the side considering what happened with the 81 SRX that never happened.

I have a 1981 SRX that is as durable as my 1979 SRX and is one H#$$ of a Drag Race/Radar run sled that was still competitive, winning, and embarassing many late model sleds when I stopped racing it 2 years ago when it was 26 model years old!!! Most gave up on the 81s way too early!

The Power Inc setups-center or end dumps work great on the SX motors.

For your SRX, just leave it stock. I believe once you start getting over 170hp, that's where you should look to aftermarket pipes to help out. If your all stock or just doing some porting, don't mess with it.

I meant that in a more out of the crate sort of way. I can't believe there are some 81's still around, I've only seen one in my life ( I wasn't even born when they came out.) A few of my dad's friends still have a couple 79's and one of them has a mint 80'. My dad is still riding his 02 has 22 xxx Km's on it never been apart runs like a clock.

power inc went out of business about 5 (?) years ago. buddy put one on his srx. at first it sounded good then got louder and louder. IT LOST POWER compared to the stock silencer!

I think it's been all of that since they were around.

I would be willing to bet the stock silencer is best. I have been through the same on my Viper. Stock silencer is greatly better than any aftermarket one.

For horsepower stock can. I have both stock and MBRP for my viper(I know different sled but..) With stock can rpms are bang on. Put the mbrp on and after 1 wot run it will under rev by 500rpm. Put header wrap on the mbrp(now makes it as heavy as stock) and it will hold its rpm like the stock. But now no weight loss.

I'm looking for an MBRP if any one has one let me know. Tony 3:16 how much for the Hauck Howler

ANDY, I WOULD HAVE TO CALL THE GUY THAT HAS IT. I JUST BOUGHT FIVE HELIX,s FROM HIM AND I SAW IT SITTING THERE FOR SALE. I THOUGHT ABOUT GRABING IT, BUT THEIR PRETTY MUCH ALL JUNK IN MY BOOK. I JUST DID A SLIGHT '' MOD '' TO STOCK BOX. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I am only looking for a DG can. I had an mbrp and a bender at one time and got rid of them and yes if I am racing it is the stock can.

When I drag raced I used a Bender can. Some say you lose 1-2hp on top end but I never experienced it, besides the 4-5hp improvement in midrange and 9-10lb weight savings far exceeds any minor hp loss IMO.

SRX pipes

I am picking my 01 up at Hay Days next month. I had it freshened a little and JAWS pipes added. I heard they are the catzazz. I'll find out this winter.

Hey Upland, has Iantomasi finished your "Rocket Ship", send me your dyno results, I would be interested to see how they made out with the beast.
