Hello, I just got my 03 Viper out from storage and am having a problem. It will start but it backfires and won't idle and just stalls. I did start having problems last season with the warning light flashing occasionally. It seemed to happen when running it hard but didn't affect the way it ran. I attribute this this to rub through I've read about under the engine and that's where I will start. On the backfire/idle problem I did put new plugs in and nothing changed. Next I'm going to clean carbs and maybe adjust the power valves. Any other ideas out there? Thanks

Does this have TORS?? If so, disable it and see what happens.

I'll try to get the carbs done tomorrow. I couldn't get a read on the flashes as it always happened when i was moving along at a good pace.

I thought that as well, but when I lifted the sled up and throttled it it would rev freely. Thanks

that still last years gas, if it is it will certainly backfire, also check your reeds while you have the carbs out

just spent about 4 hours on the Viper. cleaned the pilot jets, all 3 were clogged. new gas, plugs, checked reeds, cleaned PVs, and pulled the wire harness to check for rub through. I adjusted the PVs also. The sled started up on the third pull and now idles. Everything seems to be Ok but I'll have to wait for some snow to see for sure. Thanks guys!
