no not wierd it is just yamaha should do this from what I am seeing
I talked to another guys about this that an multiple yamahas from the vmax 4 till now and none do this. I wonder what the catch is. I wonder what makes them blink....... It is killing me to find out.....

I wondered the same thing.... best I could come up with is low voltage.
maybe the temp sensor is set up to expand as the temp rises increasing the gap and lowering voltage; when you first start the motor voltage produced is low enough the idiot box sees it as over temp!!!

Good piont. So what makes it stop working then? Why won't it work if you loop the wires or disconnect the sensor?

looping the wires is a direct short, simulates ice cold motor sensor contracted to the point of a direct connection...... unplugging the sensor should make the light solid or breaks the circuit so no part of that circuit will work......maybe
