i just put a set of graphite sliders on my SRX, was running a road (only for a bit ) and noticed when i let off the gas it felt like i was on the brake...checked out my new sliders and yep., they're worn in to about half of what they were new within 50-60 kms of use...

i know the SRX's are hard on HYFAX, but is this excessive, any tips for getting more life outa em??

my track tension seems ok to me, not too tight, don't want to go too much looser as I am running studs

I'm thinking of switching to larger bombardier wheels, (I have a few kickin around),

maybe shortening the straps..not sure if this would help and i don't really want to cuz i like the way she's hookin up right now

let me know what you guys think....

i didn't have good luck with graphite in the proaction, get regular hyfax and break em in right, i would get em heated up good on ice then flash em cold going into the snow, shut down and let cool completely, that worked for me but i'm sure there are other methods

another thing if they are "peeling off" take a good look at your track clips, they can get worn so they are sharp on the leading edge and they'll shave away hyfax like a razor

How long is a bit? and how fast was that bit? i run all graphite and no problems they last loooong time, you had to been getten er on and for a mile or so.

is track deflection on,limiter straps/spring tension up front set right not too loose/tight putting more pressure on the slides??????????,etc, etc, my yamaha graphite's last.

about a mile when i noticed the "sticky feeling"

track tension seems right on the money to me, like i said, i wouldn't go any looser for fear of the track ballooning out and causing stud damage to the tunnel and exchanger...
i think the straps are set where the factory intended, i thought about shortening them, but damn... its hooking up real nice right now...he he, ..like i said, i have those bomb wheels which i believe are a little bigger, gonna try those first,

it doesn't seem to be "sticking" or "peeling" anymore, perhaps they just needed to be worn down to where they are now??

New sets always seem to wear quite a bit at first. After they get to a certain point(maybe 50% worn)then they seem to last a long time.I usually buy the cheap black ones and replace them once a year,it only takes 20 minutes if you pull them through the track windows.

on my 600SXR the graphite is going into it's third season and still look new.On the SRX, is worn more were the curve on the rails are,the rest looks good since I have installed over sized wheels.I have installed better marginal snow wheels at the curve points, last year I lost one from Max. Performance.I took spare upper wheels from the Yamaha skids(Upper wheels in middle of skid) and they installed perfectly on ther Max. Perf. hardware and they have replaceable bearings in them. With engine running,my tracks on both sleds rotate no problem on a stand.I have no binding going on here.

X2 - and as Daman mentioned, I've had great results from graphite. I usually get at least 3-4 seasons. I'd still have the original ones on my '01 if I hadn't swapped skids two years ago.

I won't ride the plowed edge of a road for more than 1/4 mile (when possible) without tagging/riding the snow bank to keep snow under the track.

Of course this might create other problems including bent trailing arms (two right side arms for me since I began riding) but neither were due to road riding.

recplace the front 4 stock 5.125 idler wheels with 5.38 wheels. I also did them for the 2 on the shaft in bewteeen the rails on the rear skid for a total of 6, 5.38 wheels. richierich sells them.

You will be faster and virtually never have hyfax trouble again. Loosen your track with the sled off the ground for about 1 inch sag in the center

let them wear halfway

they will wear down fast new,but they will stop wearing with about an 1/8 inche left sounds scary but thats what happens with stock bogies!!!

are the yamahas graphite, if so i've had no probs with them either, but i tried an aftermarket set that were gone after one ride

I've never purchased genuine slides. I find the cheapest graphite available. Seem to work for me.
