I am wanting to get a little better sound out of my exhaust but want to keep my sled reliable. Thinking about a sno stuff rumble pack. Any feedback on this or any other ideas appreciated. If I do go with the rumble pack, do I have to make any other changes? jetting, etc??

I don't think you'll have to make any jet changes, but you may have to open your wallet for Johnny law. It'll also probably slow you down too.
Please keep in mind what other folks (i.e. land owners that allow us access) might think of your "better sound".

Understand the noise concern. Thats why I am checking with you guys. Not looking for anything to radical but just a little sound. Not to worried about speed or power either, im not a high speed rider. Maybe ill spend the money on an m10 instead or stretch it out to 136

If you are set on getting one I would recomend slp. I had one on for a couple years then got sick of it. I never noticed a change in power one way or the other. It sounded good but after 3 years I just didnt want it anymore. Never had trouble with the law and we see them alot and it's illegal to modify your exhaust here.

I had SLP pipes on my XCR and they were very quiet. My impression has been they are typically the quietest.

My SLP can sounds a little better idling and on the very bottom end, but otherwise doesn't sound any different than stock to me.

We also have an SLP can, and it sounds nice but not TOO loud

I had a Sno stuff Rumble pack on my 02 viper for 1 season.
Excellent fit and finish, very good quality made can.
Sound at idle was low and sweet, at WOT you could really hear that thing, not overly obnoxious but loud enough to get a noise ticket. I actually really liked the sound.
I noticed no loss of power, and I did not have to make any changes in jetting, carbs, etc. Install & go.
In WI they are serious about the noise levels and are pulling people over all the time and checking for modified exhaust, so I went back to stock.

Does that mean you can't have triple pipes on a viper in Wisconsin (to loud)?
Your not supposed to. However I think slp's say they do not exceed the legal limit for noise.Carpenter5.9 said:Does that mean you can't have triple pipes on a viper in Wisconsin (to loud)?

I emailed the WI DNR directly and asked them the same question (about triple pipes) They did not come out and directly tell me " you can not " but they highly frowned upon it , and said that if I exceeded the decibel limit & was stopped ,I could get a fine and would have to return sled back to stock exhaust..........In my opinion , it is not worth the hassle./ And I do not want to jeopardize trail access on private land by making landowners angry because my sled is to loud.

The SLP loses power too. Been there and done it. I have another Viper to test against, that's why I know. All silencers on THIS sled lose power drastically. Other machines (700SXR and 600SX) that I have owned were fine with a silencer, but not this one. It's like turning your sled into a 600cc or less.
The people that say they did not notice a power loss is because they have done no testing. I have tested the SLP, Bender and MBRP....they all lost power the MBRP was the worst. I actually bought the SLP in the UP from a dealer and he said the same thing...."it's the only one that does not lose power"....... well I rode for two more days with it installed and really could not tell. It was quiet, had just a slightly different tone and all was well. When I got home I ran it off against my ole man's Viper and he creamed me badly every time. So I threw on the stock silencer and low and behold I was right there with him again. I never put it back on and sold it immediately.

I have 2 Vipers bought brand new in 2002. I had 1 stock exhaust, the other with the Sno Stuff Can, and yes, I have tested and ran them side by side in all conditions and WOT on a long lake runs, they were side by side, So , I did do testing and I did not notice any power loss with my sleds and a Sno Stuff can.journeyman said:The SLP loses power too.
