Going riding thursday with a bunch of guys from work. Where going to all line em up what do you think my chances are? I've got the hauck tripple pipes and it does have a hauck 2ndary helix. I just bought it and rebuilt the top end took it out a couple times and seems to be running real good. The rpms at 9100 are real high compared to what everyone else is sayings theres are running at but I talked to hauck and they said 8900 too 9200 also 21/38 gearing also 144 studs. My buddies 05 F7 bought it as a leftover last year and is bone stock other than 198 studs but he got a fast one. The yamaha nytro is also bone stock has 144 studsand the ZRT 800 has 1000 motor in it with pipes clutch kit and like 300 studs its kind of a junk yard sled but claims its the fastest thing out there. These are the only sleds that I think would be real competition. Any thoughts?

If he has a 1000 motor, i might be worried. It is one of those scenarios where it may not look good, but it goes like hell. I would be cautious....
Just my opinion.

You never know, he may be a hustler, maybe he has 220HP in the sled, or maybe he has 140HP, just be careful like I said...

And if you race, try to get to an area where you KNOW that you will hook. Then he is chasing you down.

I ride w/two ThunderCat 1000's, and if he has a 1000... he'll be catching you sooner or later.

He claims it does but he hasn't lined it up with anything really yet. Mines seems real fast but I havent been on anything else this year and last year rode an RX-1 which my sled seems like it would blow its doors off and sold my srx and pro-x three years ago so can't really compare it to those even though I think it feels alot faster.

I'm guessing we will be running around a 1000 ft

Then again I did run against a 98ish ZRT800 w/a D&D 1000 in it on Otesego lake two years ago. He was only bout 2 mph faster topend than me and I am prob 50lbs more than him and having wiring harness issues and not running right. I would destroy that machine now... it's not by chance flat black w/purple skis and skid plate??? Haha, can't be.

Haven't got to see it yet but I heard it looks like quite the junk yard sled

Thundercats are no joke though. I have a 2000 SRX w/Maxx Perfomance roller secondary, V-Force reeds, and a Bender pipe, w/a 1.25 hacksaw. I am 260 and my neighbors are prob 340 and 360... and yes I know I have to move. It just depends on who hooks up better, but in my experience it seems that have more topend.

Just be safe when you race, know where you're going. If you don't know where the race is headed, tell the guy to screw off. Don't race some guy on terrain you don't know...you may regret it...

I agree with the last guy, scan the area before you race. I was talking to a guy dec 28, who was out with his buddies on a lake, and he had a 240hp turbo 800cat, 5mins later he hit a truck and t-boned a camper and pushed the camper 16". wrecked a 24grand sled he just bought pluss broken femer bone and a few other bones, he is lucky to be alive. I think he had a few too many in him too if you know what I mean. always scan the area first and keep a safe distance from your buddies when you line up.

right on 03sxviper, keep a safe distance from fellow racers,
I've been in a few "chicken" situations when coming off the line and everyone's ski's are in the air, sleds pulling in one direction or another and someone has to back off to avoid side swiping each other. Pisses me off when the other guy considers this a win too !!

I have done some dumb sh_t... but who does that? Hit a camper/RV/truck whatever??? That is ridiculous.
Hit a truck? Who was he Stevie Wonder or Ray Charles? Gotta be blind to not see that in front of you. You know they say you can't fix STUPID!

Pay close attention to the big block Cats, my srx runs real good for a 700, but its just not the in the same class as my 2000 ZRT 800 W/ 1050 Hooper trail kit on it, and if you dont know what to look for you would never know it wasnt a 800. A good trail port stock jug 1000 will go 200 hp and my predator jugged motor dynoed 215 w/ stock carbs. nothing against the Srx's, just sayin

What year Nytro? My BFF has an 05 w/3 cylinder/130HP and we have only had his up to about 91, while reading they only top out in the high nineties (3 cylinder/130 hp models that is). His is torquey but does not run w/my SRX. He even prefers to ride the SRX... but only b/c he's 5'6" 135 and likes to SIT & GO FAST. He's not much for rider input if ya know what I mean...
