:o| took 600 out today, conditions really bad.Went along another roadway which I never do and coming to a guys crossing..what I see..a friggin drainage in a sharp V..thought I was going over handlebars...nailed brakes, down and out I went.Didn't think ski's could bend up that way..lol.
Anyways headed back along hwy ditch where I could open it up more, turned off and headed for the river.Pinned it in good snow and then I hear this BANGING,THUMP>>THUMPING sound from below.Stopped to check suspension..all ok.Crawled back home for 3 km's.Put up on stand and revved it up.All suspension components good,no loose shocks,no broken wheels,or w-arm or straps.BUT getting a major thumping sound up front around the drivers.Track goes around and thump....thump....etc.And a jerking motion.Track still turns on it's own on the stand.I can only guess a bearing in the axle...don't know.
One sled down for now.SRX isn't even going to taken out in this crappy snow conditions.Guess in the garage I go..heat on and start stripping down chaincase and or axle.I shoild be able to find something. If I loosen track right off,I should be able to shake the axle drive..right.
What you guys suggest?????? :o|

Sorry to hear,i don't know why you go out in them shitty conditions, you or your sleds going to get it one day bud!! be care full.

if i don't have have ideal conditions the yammies stay put!!!,i will not ride.

let us know what ya find out.

I hear ya daman. You know I got the itch and try a little, but man didn't think it really was that BAD.Worse winter I have seen in a long time for sledding, and going above 0 next week and possibly rain. That'll about do it for riding season. There is no sign of snow in long range either.I guess Mexico and Florida are getting the snow now as I have seen on CNN.Daman is this what you go thru most times because of lack of snow..time to move...lolll Can't believe most of us have waited a long time before we can get out sledding, and this year seems a lot longer..... :o| Oh well there is wrenching and pratice makes perfect...

Yep...lack of snow is right,i havent pulled a cord yet,all sleds still asleep with there fogging oil intack.

i have 0 miles so far......

change your belt before you dig into it.........could be that simple.......of course that is not going to fix your ski.......lol

Belt is off, primary good shape, secondary great shape..no play on jackshaft bearing clutch side...so I melted all the snow and ice off, hoisted it up with block and tackle....spun track backwards and it is smooth and quiet. Now I rotate it forwards...starts going, but not even half a spin around it stops and a noise is heard up front.Tried rocking back and forward again and the track stops and I can't push it.Amazing I drove it home 3 km's that way. Can't figure this out :o|

Will loosen track tension tomorrow, remove exhaust and chain case cover, speedo cover on clutch side drive and peak at the bearing.Something has to show up...
:o| #$%&* :o|

daman..this is wierd...I can't believe it is any bearings.I said earlier it it jambs in forwar direction, but actually if I rotate the secondary by hand, the same direction as the clutch or in reverse..it goes great until a certain point..like it is jambing

hey daman,I am a maintenance freak and it ain't the bearings, chain or gears.I went back into the garage and had a go at it again.I spun secondary one way and then it stops..but then I can force it to go again.Same thing happens when I do it in reverse.I checked the brakes, took secondary and rocked back and forth..absolutely no play or chain slap going on.I checked chain tensioner and it hadn't moved.
Then I did it again and when it jambs I hear noise from the back wheels.I am thinking my side to side is off maybe. Then I look closer at the second wheel and the track on top of it starts to climb over the wheel the thickness of the inside track lugs...what the f*ck I say...........I see something....

i guess its time for a new track blue lollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.....................
