I went the underseat route and tapped into the blue wire for the tail light. I used the right rear gas tank bolt to ground. Will this work?
Yes. Most go under the steering pad. Alot less work.
I chose the underseat route in order to keep the wiring as out of the way as possible. I plan to run the cord down the inside of my jacket so it doesn't get tangled up in my arms riding. Just to confirm, that gas tank bolt will serve as a good ground?

Gas tank bolts into the chasiss. The chasiss is the ground for the sled. Make sure it has a good clean connection.I use anti-seize on this type of connection that is open to the elements.
Thanks for the confirmation...i did use dielectric grease installing the ground.Gas tank bolts into the chasiss. The chasiss is the ground for the sled. Make sure it has a good clean connection.I use anti-seize on this type of connection that is open to the elements.

- As you can see in the other Heated Shield thread, I've been working with mine on the handlebar pad.
- Where's the best ground up there?

I went down to the handle hoop. Use the screw that hold the plastic shroud on . When sitting on the sled it should be just below your left hand.

Why does everyone say that??? If you have it under the bar pad it comes out the bottom of the bar pad and sits right near the gas cap....All you do is run the cord from your helmet down your coat, out the bottom and along the gas tank to the hook-up cord. It is so much easier(IMO)....and it is ABSOLUTELY NO WHERE NEAR your arms, it is 2 feet below them.

- I'm pretty sure he means the little metal loop that is on the bars that holds all the wiring and cables in place.
- It just keeps everything nice and tidy.

Open the hood. Look for a 10mm bolt that mounts the airbox to the "handle bar loop" thingy. Right beside it is a philips screw. Thats where I ground all of mine.

- Gotcha, thanks!
To each his own...I weighed all options and preferred the underseat routing...the cord will go down the inside of my coat and plug in right by the seat...maybe 8 inches of cord exposed. Why does everyone say that???
