Hey guys, Thought I would post these up. We at CB Performance Parts decided to race in a new class at the vintage world championship. The class was 340 single fan super stock. We ran our 1980 250 ET and won the entire class. Here are some pictures of the event, just thought I would share. Enjoy









We decided to have fun and run our Fan 340 enticer in the free air super stock class and actually made it to the semifinals...

Congratulations Bruce, well done. I can't help but notice that 8 out of the 10 sleds in the top photo run Yamaha power! Not odd at all that they are grandsons, so to speak, of the 71 WC 433! Thanks for the pics. G.
 
Looks set up really good..both on the turn and striaght...

How big is the engine you ran?

Nice start...

What track did you run?
 
We ran the stock clutch on it because it is lighter than almost all alternative clutches we could run and the RPM's were spot on. The aluminum brackets on the ski are needed to help prevent ski roll. Without them, the ski would just bend right over because there is no strength in the leaf spring design.
 
Yes, we were allowed to punch it all the way up to a 340 if desired (not possible, cant get much more than 290 cc out of those cylinders before you are in the aluminum.) We just decided to run stock bore and stroke on the engine but we cut up the rest of the engine pretty well. Only thing that really limits those engines is the stock exhaust pipe that must not be altered.

Ya..too much overbore and the engine can't be made to work right..it will work..but not to its best.

Is that engine piston port...did you weld on a reed block?

Pretty smart with the clutch as well..light weight.

It looks like you had a pretty good chassis setup as well...
 
So what other classes did you race in..how did you guys do.

Arnie C. from Ontario raced in the 300 mod somthing with a jet..he lives down the road...

Did you happed to see that race?

We just picked up a 340 GPX...74..hope to run some races next year.
 
I talked to Bruce Friday after the 340 class. He told me they had a little 250 that had some legs. HOLLY COW was he right. In both the heat and final he had the pack by a full straight. Thats something like 700ft!!!!!

So good to see some guys actually making things fast again...he probally had some good HP..but it looked like it really handled..off the line to..

Would like to see some pictures under the hood...

No - we used about 6" of carbide...but I seem to recall some talk of that...little discs that rotated..yikes...

My biggest thing is...the new guys don't get that speeds were 100 mph on 1/2 mile iced horse tracks. In the mid 70's.

The things were so light one person could almost pick one up. HP was over 100 in the 440 ..with a 300 rpm power band.

They banned the 650's cause we got them going too fast...started killing guys off.
