hey me and a buddy are setting up a 98 srx 700 for some 660 drags. as of right now the sled is bone stock except we put a shaved track with some chissels on. We were looking for a good clutching and gearing setup.
Thanks

Do you have any thing to work with or do you have to go out and buy a whole different setup

Maybe I need heelclickers........LOL
the F7 next to me was the only one to get me off the line thats why I said I need different helix for more testing. I did put the heelclickers back and they weigh 63 grams and are spot on with RPMS with a 50/38 Dalton @ 80 with green so hopefully this will help next time......LOLYAMMIEGOD3:16 said:YOU GOT SMOKED OFF THE LINE BUD. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Good job! Looks like a lot of fun!
The Bull stops when the flag drops + if your'e not racing...you are not learning!
You will get faster now that you know where you sit!
Some suggestions if I may?
-drag raciing is a BIG Time mental game!!!! before you run your heats, stand behind or off to the side of the starting line and watch the light or the flag man and mentally practice your launch when the other heats are running. I actually move my thumb while doing this as if I was pressing the throttle
-when on the starting line NEVER pay any attention to the sleds beside you, only watch the light or flag man.
-I hold the brake and bring the Rs up just shy of my engagement but don't let it engage...this takes practice + I put a line of tape right where I want the tach to be
-when the light changes I symotaniously[spelling???] release the brake + slam the throttle
-once the sled launches, slide yourself back and get out of the wind and get your weight off the skiis as much as possible you probably will need to use your weight to steer, that will help you real that Arctic Scrap in, if necessary!!!
-IMO...for snow use 21/40 gears or any combination that works out to around 1.90 : 1 Don't gear any lower then that on snow + no higher then 1.80 : 1
Not much gets me more worked up then beating those cats!!!
Have Fun!

It had me hooked for decades! I just quit drag racing 2 years ago...I was in my first race in 1965!!!
Beating Arctic Cats[+ a couple particular owner/riders] kept me motivated to keep winning!
Remember with Drag raciing:
-SPEED is MATH..."the best Mathematition wins"
- the race is usually won in your preperation during the week, all you do is ride it on race day.
-Once you start winning you have to be a moving target[keep getting quicker] as a stationary target is easy to hit.
-most of the Cats you race in Stock classes are cheating...Big Bores, Race Boxes ect...but who cares BRING it ON!

Snow_racer_xtreme is helping me with my sled to. Were setting up a 98 SRX and have plenty of parts to play with. We did the 660 drags last weeknd but are going to switch to run the 1000 foot radar runs now. Any suggestions anyone, currently were running 20/40 gears, stock primary, G Hawk helix and a green spring.
