VERY Hard-to-Start when cold SRX 700

Full chock, half chock, doesn't matter I can rarely get the SRX 700 started without pulling at least 2 plugs and pouring gas into the cylinder. Except, in the summer it will start using the choke (just when I need it the most, right?).

Once I get it started and ride it, it usually starts up the first pull if it doesn't sit more than a couple of hours between running.

Any ideas?
 
It's the nature of the beast with these things. Even on a relatively warm day (25, 26, or 27 degrees) mine will take 4 pulls with full choke to get her running.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but it's been my experience that the colder it is the harder it is to turn over. I could tug on my '01 all day with one hand and not get it lit. I'm a lefty and stand next to the sled when starting after an overnight soak. Full choke, two hands, two pulls and it's lit.

After the long discussion over the summer about hard starting SRX's, IMO as long as the chokes are set properly, hard starts after a cold soak have more to do with the guy pulling the cord than anything else.

Seriously, have you tried two hands?

Also, since you have a relatively easy time starting it in summer, this would also suggest you're not tugging hard enough.

Finally, you should have no reason to start the sled in the summer. Even if you were to start it once a week and let it run 'til it overheats you still aren't baking off moisture collected from the last time you heat cycled it.

Fog it and forget it.
 
Clean carbs,clean choke circuit and adjust choke free play,should not be that hard to start.

check/replace fuel filter in tank
 
Possible wiring harness... before mine was diagonosed my SRX would do something similar. If left out in the COLD or WIND CHILL, the thing wouldnt start to save my life after running all day. Turned out wiring harness above leftwell was rubbed through shorting... if not draining the system. Do you have any running issues, glitches???
 
I know how you feel, I have a 2001 SRX700 and it takes forever to start when cold, (and yes I use both hands). I have cleaned my carbs, changed plugs, adjusted the chokes, even replaced the fuel pump and it still takes forever to start.
Last week it was -28 C and it took 46 pulls (with two hands). Once it is warm it starts great, as well as when it warms up outside it also starts better.
I have basically succumed to the fact it is nature of the beast
 
I finally got my SRX to start easier now.Since I replaced stock pilot jets with #50 pilots,seems to start a lot better.Probably giving a little more gas because of it.
Example.Prior to the change,with carbs removed for cleaning and put back empty..it was at 1 point 80 pulls and no firing.Had to finally put gas thru plug holes amd wham she started
After I had carbs out again to change the pilot jets,re-installed and carbs empty again..it only took 33 pulls this time and no gas thru plug holes.It also starts in 4 pulls now on average compared to like 13 to 18 before.I kinda like the change.

Yes the carbs have been cleaned by a really good mechanic, the choke is set up right. If I pull the plugs and squirt gas down the holes, it will fire up on the first pull.
